So I was going to try this because everyone says it increases vapor production, but when I went to the doctors last week they said they would not recommend it because it is not made to be used orally or on open wounds. So I went today and asked the pharmacists and they told me the exact same thing. So I just want to make sure this is really safe to be vapping, the link below is the one I was looking at, it was like 99.5% Glycerin and .5% salt some thing.

Mary Kay I know you are big on using this so I will look forward to your help! :p

This is the product I looked at

If you want, there is food grade "100%" VG at Whole Foods market, 16oz for $10. But, some people disagree and believe you should only use the USP "skin protectant" from the drugist. I like the taste of the Whole Foods 'Now' brand, and I trust that and their rep.

I have never heard of "Whole Foods" before, the only thing I found is at walmart for the USP kind, and the drug store said they could order me the USP but they don't carry it in stock. I would like to see that 100% but if I can't find it I guess I will just try the other since you all are saying its okay to use!

100% anything is tough to find and 99.6% is close enough for our purposes I believe. Remember the USP is the important thing, indicating some quality control and assurance product is pure for all practical purposes.

Mix up my own with the stuff from Walgreens and works just fine. No issues so far and lots of great vapor as long as the battery isnt toast. The dr/pharmacist will never recommend off label use of anything without some specific knowledge or a real good reason. They will always play it safe, but then again you are trusting them not to steer you wrong, so would expect them to play it safe. We are a bit off the reservation to begin with, so getting 'approval' from the regular authorities is going to be a long time coming.

Whole Foods Market Stores | WholeFoodsMarket.com

It is a popular Heath/Gormet food store. I believe there are several in GA

you can also get cake and candy making glycerin. Wilton's sells it usually in small sizes but, it lasts me a long time. and it's only 2.50 or so here in S.C. It also has a sweet taste. Now, I've been using the usp 99.6% glycerin from walgreens for 5 months and all is good.....

Wilton Glycerine. I was just going to suggest this stuff. I've got a bottle for fondant making. Only ingredient is Glycerine.
If the stuff at the pharmacy says it's not edible, I'd use this. Wal-Mart carries it in store, so does JoAnn Fabrics, Michaels (Craft Supply), and if you have one Hobby Lobby. Internet searches could provide more sources, but Wilton.com is currently sold out.

I have a bottle of Good Neighbor Pharmacy Glycerin, USP skin protectant, 6oz. that has an expiration date of 07-2013 with a couple drops missing that you can have if you pay the shipping on it. The drug facts # is 528391. I found out after I got it that I can't vape VG because it gives me headaches. It's been stored in a refrigerator.

There was at one time a whole thread about Glycerine vs. V.G. and the drugist who started it said that it's all the same thing, made by the same people. I do agree that USB is the thing you want to look for.
As for the topical use only and not injesting it..here's my take:

Don't drink it or slather it on an open wound in your throat!
Sorry I couldn't help it! I have been using it for over a year and I am here to tell about it. besides if you already use e-liquid (duh) you have already used V.G./Glycerin..you will only be adding a tad bit more to the mix.
Cheers!
Oh! Hi Markarich! Psst..He's the guy who started the thread...lol!

Thanks for the offer and I would take it up, but after shipping it would be about the same just to buy it from the store, they have a big bottle for for only 2.99.

I have a bottle of that same glycerin that my girlfriend happen to pick up for me at Walmart, I purposely wouldn't use it because it had Anhydrous= a skin protector in it. Can someone tell me if this Anhydrous is safe to vape.????

Thank You
MWA

That means it has water in it. I sure wish doctors and priests would give up the latin. Makes everything so confusing. lol

I would like to know more about this adding glycerin thing. Can someone direct me to more information.

There are two types of juice PG and VG. You can either make your own VG juice by getting nic base(in either PG or VG), and thin it to the nic level you want and add flavoring. OR, if you have a juice which is too high in flavor or nicotine, you can use VG(or PG), to reduce it. OR, if you have PG juice that has very low vapor properties, you can add VG to increase the vapor. There is alot of info in the DIY section, check it out.
