OK I took the Cyclone tank apart and cleaned everything. I did a dry burn and it had a some coating of the coil which I burned off. I had originally filled it with Backwoods Brew"s Applewood which is a diluted honey color so not too dark. I put it back together and just dripped a little down into the carto. I got good TH and vapor, so everything is good so far. Now I,m going to put the filler back in and fill it. I wish there was a way to see how far down the filler was and whether or not it was touching the coil.

That's fantastic. Great job gertting it going again. You said two things that will shorten the life of a coil and make it clog up quickly, Backwoods Brew and Honey. Backwoods Brew and honey mixes are nortorious for caramelizing a coil. No matter, you'll just have to clean it more often. Seems like you got the tear-down/rebuild process down pat. Congrats

My initial hits on Chopper's Cyclone tank after rebuilding it and filling the tank were great. It lives up to all the hype it has gotten. I am hopeful that it continues tomorrow.

I'm curious, how did you manage to rebuild the carto with the indentations made from the punched holes not getting in the way? When I try to rebuild them, I cannot get the filler back in (not even the straw fits beyond the punched holes).

Thanks.

That's really strange. I've had no problem pulling the filler or refilling the punched cartos. The straw is supposed to fit snug around the centertube. There should be plenty of clearance to insert the straw around the centertube. I've been tamping the filler back in using a very wide McD's milkshake straw. My milkshake straw is about twice the length of a gocart and once I have the filler mostly inserted I lightly tap the carto on a tabletop while holding the top of the straw with my finger. I do this until I can see the filler in the punch holes and then some more to insure it is seated at the bottom of the carto. I've done it with fluval replacement and factory filler and haven't had a problem. The filler seems to slide by the punch holes with no problem.

Thanks Mohawkx:

I've been using Choppers tanks since he started and I guess they have 'evolved'. The first one's I used had indentations that almost touched the center tube. The later ones have more room, I'll try to rebuild one of these. It would be nice to do this, I use thicker juices and they get gummed up pretty quickly.

To be honest there is actually more margin for error with the chopper tanks than with regular gocarts. With regular gocarts the inner wrapping must be precise, the filler must be wrapped and positioned correctly for the filler to wick properly. The chopper tank provides a steady supply of juice so there is more tolerance. It should be especially friendly for thick juices as one can just remove the saturated filler, do a quick dry burn and reinsert the saturated filler and be merrily on their way for 2 or 3 more days. Repeat as necessary.

Just tried it and it worked great. Thanks Mohawkx.

I read your tutorial but I don't remember you stating this, after rebuilding my first carto yesterday I did a few more today that I had previously taken apart, cleaned and dried. I had problems with a couple where they were leaking out the battery connection. I understand that not getting the filler all the way down to the coil causes this. I had success fixing one by using a very fine pointed pair of tweezers to go between the inner and outer layers of filler and pushing down the inner layer. I like your idea of tamping it down. I am going to try that later tonite on another one that is ready for reassembly.

DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!
question regarding Chopper cyclone tank..i posted on the official go-go forum but i see there are alot of chopper experts here. i had a bad carto on my first original chopper and eric sent me a new one. so.....i dont know how to explain this and i dont understand, but unless i put it back together wrong, which wouldnt and couldnt have anything to do with it, for some reason the mouth part of the carto juts out much less than i recall the original one i got....i can barely put my lips around it, not enough room, and NO I DIDNT GET RESTYANE INJECTIONS IN MY LIPS OR LIP IMPLANTS RECENTLY HA HA! i put the original carto next to the new one and they are the same length. so WTH??? i lost my drip tip so i had to order another one, and gotta wait on that so i have some "extention" to the setup to make vaping easier.

Yep, that's it, thanks. I had no idea where I saw that and really didn't think it was on the GoGoUSA thread. LOL Here's a link to the video in case someone hasn't seen it and a picture of the tool.
