I have been vaping for about 3 months now, and have been through a Blu, eGo and now my latest is a Prodigy V3. Once I got my eGo, I noticed that I go through atomizers like water. I prime them, use them in bursts and change them out as frequently as I can, normally keeping 3-4 in the daily rotation. I have been through 4 LR 510 Attys on my eGo, as well as 2 reg 510's. Once I got my Prodigy V3, I have went through about an atty a day (10 so far), even when keeping them in a rotation. Now I am left with a Joye knock-off (although its my longest lasting atty) to last me until my new shipment arrives.
I cannot figure it out. I keep them wet, but not flooded. I don't take drags longer than 2 seconds out of fear of overheating the coils. I have purchased both Joye and knock-offs. To be honest, I have had more luck with the knock offs than the Joye brand. Even my old Blu atty is still cranking on my V3, but none of the 510 attys.
After browsing the forums for ab out a solid 4 hours, it appears that I am not alone. Bad tastes, poor vapor production or all out bad units are plaguing the 510 units as of right now. What gives? Did something change? Has the popularity of the 510 platform cause the manufacturers of the atomizers to cut corners causing this recent epidemic?
The cost of replacement parts is now exceeding my recently kicked smoking habit. Its surprisingly more stressful as well. I notice myself staring down the pipe at these just waiting for them not to fire. Also, I cannot just run to 7/11 and buy a pack of atomizers. That just adds to the stress. As enjoyable as vaping is, (and believe me, I do truly love it) I'm at the point of throwing in the towel and calling this a "promising, but failed gimmick" due to the lackluster reliability of the equipment. Keep this in mind: the car was once a gimmick too, until a man named Henry Ford came along and made cars both affordable and reliable enough for everyone. So when is vaping gonna get its Henry Ford? Not soon enough, I can tell you that.
If anyone has some information that may help, I would love to hear it. Be it, do this, not that or switch atty types altogether. Anything to help. I am really on my last nerve with the unreliability of these atomizers.
P.S. For those that want to tout their 7 month old, still-going-strong atomizers: Thats awesome! Now buy some new ones and come back and report your findings. I would bet dollars to donuts that you will have a similar experience.
