I have been vaping for about 3 months now, and have been through a Blu, eGo and now my latest is a Prodigy V3. Once I got my eGo, I noticed that I go through atomizers like water. I prime them, use them in bursts and change them out as frequently as I can, normally keeping 3-4 in the daily rotation. I have been through 4 LR 510 Attys on my eGo, as well as 2 reg 510's. Once I got my Prodigy V3, I have went through about an atty a day (10 so far), even when keeping them in a rotation. Now I am left with a Joye knock-off (although its my longest lasting atty) to last me until my new shipment arrives.

I cannot figure it out. I keep them wet, but not flooded. I don't take drags longer than 2 seconds out of fear of overheating the coils. I have purchased both Joye and knock-offs. To be honest, I have had more luck with the knock offs than the Joye brand. Even my old Blu atty is still cranking on my V3, but none of the 510 attys.

After browsing the forums for ab out a solid 4 hours, it appears that I am not alone. Bad tastes, poor vapor production or all out bad units are plaguing the 510 units as of right now. What gives? Did something change? Has the popularity of the 510 platform cause the manufacturers of the atomizers to cut corners causing this recent epidemic?

The cost of replacement parts is now exceeding my recently kicked smoking habit. Its surprisingly more stressful as well. I notice myself staring down the pipe at these just waiting for them not to fire. Also, I cannot just run to 7/11 and buy a pack of atomizers. That just adds to the stress. As enjoyable as vaping is, (and believe me, I do truly love it) I'm at the point of throwing in the towel and calling this a "promising, but failed gimmick" due to the lackluster reliability of the equipment. Keep this in mind: the car was once a gimmick too, until a man named Henry Ford came along and made cars both affordable and reliable enough for everyone. So when is vaping gonna get its Henry Ford? Not soon enough, I can tell you that.

If anyone has some information that may help, I would love to hear it. Be it, do this, not that or switch atty types altogether. Anything to help. I am really on my last nerve with the unreliability of these atomizers.

P.S. For those that want to tout their 7 month old, still-going-strong atomizers: Thats awesome! Now buy some new ones and come back and report your findings. I would bet dollars to donuts that you will have a similar experience.

I feel your pain, lost 6 atties in the last 3 weeks. last night i lost my last two. In search of a place locally here in Tucson i found FreedomSmokeUSA CalleD dave on is 800 number and he was more then happy to help me out and sold me a eGo kit today. Hooked me up on some samples of Liquid. After talking to him it seems not all liquid is the same and after dissecting my blown Atties i found them all to have a caked on Black shell around the heating element. I was told this is caused by not so pure E juice. So you might want to take one of your bads apart and have a look inside. If your getting that build up maybe a better grade E- liquid could save you alot in replacement parts. I might have been saving a few bucks on Juice but i more then made up for it in atomizer replacement. I will try and post back after 3 or 4 days to let you know how this new juice is going. My old juice for sure would have clogged up my atty in that time.

I do not have the solution for you. I do have a question.

Did you purchase your atty's at the same time from the same supplier?

I'm wondering if you received a defective batch of atty's. If yes, maybe you should take to your supplier about this problem. If they got a bad batch, I'm willing to be you are not the only person with this problem.

Someone will be around shortly to respond to this problem and I am Positive they'll be more knowledgeable than me.

I use Freedom Smoke USA juice (and Backwoods Brew Juice). And I have had good luck with my atty's.

I also clean my atty's in rubbing alcohol. Let them soak for a couple minutes, then air dry for 24 hrs, then prime them up and vape away.

Maybe cleaning your atty's in rubbing alcohol will get rid of some of the gunk and bring some of them back to life.

There are many different methods of cleaning atty's. This is the easiest one I have found. You can search the forums and find other atty cleaning methods.

I would take all those old atty's, box them up and send them to me....you know ....for scientific research and evaluation. I'd gladly report my findings here after I soaked them in vinegar for a day, rinsed them in hot water, checked the resistance and determined if they were servicable or not.
Then I'd check to make sure I was vaping good quality juice in them...

What kind of juice have you been vaping in them?

It would help if you said where you purchased these from.

are you just using these on a 3.7 device?

I buy almost all my attys from eastmall as they outlast the ones I purchase from the4 suppliers in the states mostly.

Ikenvape has good attys also.

The ones 510s especially I have gotten from suppliers in the states, dont seem to last me very long,

You are going through an unreasonable amount of attys.. It is either the atty, juice or voltage issue i am sure.. good luck..

To answer a few questions:

I have been using juice from Tasty Vapor (USA Made), Litecig (Dekang) and PureSmoker (USA Tonic). Haven't heard any complaints about that juice being harsh on attys.

I have purchased my attys from a few vendors: Litecig (real Joye regulars), TastyVapor (knock offs), and PureSmoker (Joye High Resistance).

I have been using these across two devices: eGo @3.7v and Prodigy V3 @6v.

I have also tried cleaning them in various liquids without success. I'm damn close to sacrificing a chicken and chanting over them if it brings them back to life.

30 days and counting with the two original attys that came with my eGo. I haven't killed one yet and I hit them for some good long draws too. Maybe I'm just lucky. I just run warm water through them and do a quick dry burn and repeat the wash. Of course I just jinxed myself and both of them will blow up in my face immediately. :p

I've definitely had bad luck with the LR attys. What I have found to work the best is to drip smoke them and run them on the verge of being flooded. Seems to keep them from heating up red hot. As soon as you start to lose flavor, top off again. Don't wait until the burnt taste comes. At the end of the day, blow backwards through the atty to drain the juice, and then let it rest for a day and use a different one. I would also make sure that the button isn't being pressed while your PV is in your pocket or anything like that. The absolute first place to start though is to test with a voltmeter to see if the atties are popped or just clogged. If they are popped you'll get an infinite, or zero when testing ohms. Hope you can figure out the issue.

I second this piece of advice. I always remove my atty from the battery at the end of the day and blow out all the residue juice. Then they sit for the night until I use them the next day. If the performance starts to fade, or about once a week, they get cleaned.

xjester, get a volt meter and check the resistance on your atty's.... Save the chiken for the grill.... If the circuit is open, your popping them, maybe with too much voltage
ok, whate attys should be used with ego Riva, 3.7, the two that came with it r no good, tried LR510's they popped, whats the diferrence from LR attys and high resistance attys

Performance wise, really it is that the LR atties run hotter and heat up quicker thats about it. Maintenance wise they will die quicker because of it. Especially if you run them dry, having plenty of fluid on them keeps the temps down.

Get yourself some eastmall.net LR 510s. The riva isnt going to take a HV attys anyways. you would use a HV attys on 5-7v only.
The Eastmall LR are well made and last me a long time.
I first bough LR from other suppliers and they will pop fast..

Try reg 510 attys is you cant order from China and eastmall.. they should last you longer..

I buy all my attys from Wholesale & Retail Best E-cigarette E-juice Supplier and RARELY have issues. I have made them my go-to supplier for atomisers and buy in bulk. If you buy ten or more, you get a HUGE discount and I never pay over 4.50 an atty. They typically last me months on end, not even trotating them BUT I do have different attys on each of my devices and DO rotate devices thru the day.

I mainly use the 510 but use 901s, 801s and cartos as well. I DO also drip with a super t ttip which I think once I got the hang of actually has given more life to my attys...three drips and Im good to go for a minute. Wipe the connections clean twice a day and its all gravey from there. Now, this is not to say its user error or manufacturer error, Im just saying Ive been vaping for a year and three months and it seems once I hit the four or five month mark my atties and equipment all around started lasting better and doing better. I think it takes time to get down, much like smoking did when we started (lighter, smokes, not burning ourlelves, or others lol...ashing, ashing out a car window, not getting smoke in our eyes, etc) we tend to forget the learning curve of smoking bc its so natural to us now, but vaping is much the same. Good luck to ya and with time it will be so natural you wont have to think twice abt vaping or maintaining ur equipment and making it last. :)
