Never had any problems at the border and never had any questions asked about my PVs. No convertor needed, power is the same here as the US. You have to try out some poutine while in quebec, most americans do not even know what poutine is. Not sure of good restaurants in QC, but I would check urbanspoon.com for some places.

It's a valid question. Less than 40 countries in the world use 110v for every day use. Everyone else uses 220.
Yes but, but, but... Canada and USA share a power grid...
Power grid has nothing to do with it. It's how it's delivered to the home.

On the spot exchange rates aren't going to be favorable, but yes, you can use US currency in most places. Best to hit your bank up and do the exchange there. Saves you $$$ and you get more to spend. 
The money is cool. I love it here... I'd love to be here in he winter. Love the cold...
