I haven't touched my Provari in almost a year. Back on the stinkies again, and I feel like such a failure. I have a bunch of liquid that is almost a year old now. Can anyone tell me how long it lasts? Should I toss it and get some new? Also, since I've been out of the loop for so long, I was wondering if there was anything lighter weight and smaller than my Provari that I can stuff in my purse. I have got to wean myself off the Pall Malls again, and this is the only thing that even approaches helping me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Stephanie J

Stephanie, I think shelf life has a lot to do with the flavors. The various custard flavors I have bought in the past usually turn dark and the flavor starts changing after a few months, whereas my fruit flavors have had a longer shelf life.

There are a lot of affordable smaller devices flooding the market over the last few months. The istick 30W is a nice, small device and very purse friendly. The ones in the glass bottles should be ok;
on the plastic ones, inspect the bottles visually for any signs of deformity.

I had some juice in a plastic bottle sitting for a few months half full (it was a mix of a couple things), and when I looked at it, the half way line where the liquid level had been was slightly deformed; I could feel it with my finger on the outside and the inside had like a brownish ridgeline.; I think there was some menthol in that mix.

Don't beat yourself up Stephanie, you're headed in the right direction again. The rest of your life starts now and that's what counts :thumb:

One year is generally accepted as the minimum safe lifespan for liquids. If a juice has some organic ingredients in it, like the lemon extract I sometimes use in mine, they might become questionable at say 6 months, but that should be quite rare in bought juice. If I was in your situation I would try the liquids and see how they taste, but that's just me. Juice is pretty cheap compared to smoking, so if you feel better tossing them all at this point and starting over, I say go for it :)

Definitely. I'm not up on these devices though so I'll let more knowledgeable folk advise you.

Best of luck with it!

Thanks everyone! I just dug my Provari out a few minutes ago and put a fresh battery in. I had some old FlufferNutter left in my Nautilus, and what do you know, it still tastes okay! Thanks for the recommends Carristal, the Istick looks interesting. And thanks for the encouragement RyeDan, I have been beating myself up about this ever since I started back. You're right. It's time to start moving forward again.

Please don't feel like you've failed. It's not the number of cigarettes you've smoked, it's how many you've avoided by vaping - and that number is cumulative. So cheer up!

Slim e-cigs for the purse: there's a few 'tank' systems I like, the Innokin Lily (it's got bling) and the Joyetech Ego C-Cab,(removable battery). Very e-ciggy, no frills. Both can be converted to 510 and so other atomizer/liquid delivery systems are an option. Innokin also has the iClk 1280 which is an advanced beginner vv/vw penstyle/clearomizer combo you might like.

eliquid: Flavorings have a very long shelf life - but in solution they fall off over time. Doesn't mean that the eliquid is bad but that previously yummy flavor may not be so yummy now. Nicotine itself has a shelf life dependent on concentration.The higher the concentration of nicotine, the lower the shelf life. 6mg/ml keeps longer than 24mg/ml for instance and 6mg eliquid will stay a lighter color longer. Oxidizing nicotine darkens liquids and over time will impart a wet-dog, gym-shoe, over-peppery taste. (some people taste nicotine as a slight peppery tingle, that's normal, but really over-oxidized nicotine is really really really peppery/wet-dog and foul tasting). I've never found a way to successfully disguise wet dog.

Vape some test puffs first (see wet-dog above) before filling your device up. If your liquid tastes close to flavor, and vapes like it's supposed to, then you're good to go, at least while you place an order for some fresh liquid. If the eliquid looks clumpy or has thingies floating in it, don't vape it. If it has 'separated' into an upper and lower layer, shake it well and see if it reincorporates and if it doesn't, don't vape it.

and, welcome back to vaping!

I live here in Vegas where Pink Spot Vapors is based and those guys have helped me alot in the past 8 months I have been vaping. I have some juice from almost when I started and it works out fine. They have always told me that juice has a one year shelf life. I just got a 20w Istick and bought a subtank mini. I like both and they are smaller than the MVP2 I had before which I used for my kayfun lite. No one is perfect and it is good to see you vaping again. Good luck and I hope you stick with it.
