E-Cigarettes Shown Effective as Smoking Cessation Aids

My thought is I think we can just throw in towel
about e-cigarettes being a "Smoking Alternative"
since every one else (including many of us) ...
considers e-cigarettes to be a Smoking cessation aid.

 DON'T YOU DARE! If you throw in that towel, I'm going to pick it up and whap you with it! Continually! Until you beg for mercy! And then some more. Now repeat after me. Ecigs. Are. A. Smoking. Alternative. Ecigs. Are. A. Smoking. Alternative...

Good article, thanks for sharing. This is the first I've heard of "polyethylene glycol" though. Does anyone have more info on this relating to e-liquid?

This is the Univ. of Auckland NZ study by Bullen et al. Have not read the entire study, but in the University's press release, there's no mention of polyethylene glycol, nor have I ever seen it mentioned anywhere else as a constituent of e-liquid.

Here's Wiki info (so take it with a grain of salt, though it appears mostly factual and not open to misinterpretation):

PEGs and methoxypolyethylene glycols are manufactured by Dow Chemical under the tradename Carbowax for industrial use, and Carbowax Sentry for food and pharmaceutical use. They vary in consistency from liquid to solid, depending on the molecular weight, as indicated by a number following the name. They are used commercially in numerous applications, including as surfactants, in foods, in cosmetics, in pharmaceutics, in biomedicine, as dispersing agents, as solvents, in ointments, in suppository bases, as tablet excipients, and as laxatives. Some specific groups are lauromacrogols, nonoxynols, octoxynols, and poloxamers.

PEG is the basis of many skin creams (as cetomacrogol) and personal lubricants (frequently combined with glycerin).
PEG is used in a number of toothpastes as a dispersant. In this application, it binds water and helps keep xanthan gum uniformly distributed throughout the toothpaste.

Is that similar to PEG400? I know PEG is used in some European flavors and in cig-alike cartridges in the UK and US.

Was being a little sarcastic ...
However, we do have to admit all the studies and polls and media and ETC ETC
are all focused on e-cigs being a smoking cessation device.

Please don't hit me
:p
