Hi all. Well, I don't have a major beef with the blu starter pack I bought locally. It got me off of snus -- haven't had any tobacco in 6+ weeks. It'll be good to keep around as a backup. However, I am, in all honesty, not desiring to QUIT nicotine, just use the least of all evils (so it seems). I enjoy nicotine. With that said, the blu isn't for a chain vaper. The battery dies in 30 mins of moderate to heavy use. And refilling the carts is going to become pricey.

So I've hunted around. There's a local supplier of e cigs and juice, and she's willing to set me up the following deal:

An ego tank system with the following: (2) 1000 mAh batteries, (2) Tank attys, (10) empty tank carts, and both chargers.

That's for $85, and I have a 15% off coupon she's willing to let me use for this purchase. Comes out to $72.75 plus shipping. That a good buy? Also, how long should I expect the carts and attys to last? Just wondering what I'm getting into with this setup.

Thanks!

Not gonna lie, ive heard bad things about the tank system. Bad wicking and leakage. Never used one personally but beware. If i can make a recommendation... you can get slightly larger batteries (otherwise same setup minus the tank) for half the price. I'm currently using it and as happy as can be, also, I'm not sure where you buy juice for refills, but Madvapes.com is VERY affordable.

they're much cheaper online...oh, that was online? well, cheaper through better online retailers at least. look through the deals and sales forum for specials going on. should be able to get what you specified for no more than $50, perhaps even less, in some cases including shipping.

the egoT batteries are great, but their tank atomizers leave a lot to be desired.

unfortunately there's a ton of options out there, but you can use the egoT batteries with a lot of different atomizers/cartomisers that will serve you better for less.

i'd recommend 1.5/2.0 ohm dual coil cartomisers with egoT batteries.

i started out on the egoT tank atomizers, and never had any leaking/wicking problems, but as it turned out, the things were terrible in delivering flavor or vapor production. once i attached the above dual coil cartomizers to my battery its like night and day difference.

Welcome to ECF Yinzer. If you're dealing with a local shop that in itself can be a big plus. The kit you're looking at is generally accepted as a good place to start. The price is a bit high but you're supporting a local so that is not a bad thing. The only other suggestion is to pick up a pack of cartomizers as the "T" system can have leaking issues as some have reported. A good carto for the eGo would be a Boge 2.0 ohm if he has them. Make sure you pick up some juice! :)

I love my eGo-T

I have had none of the problems people talk about with leaking or Dry hits... but maybe it's because I read all the warnings and took people's advice:

pre-punch tanks
only refill through prepunched hole, never remove cap.
long slow drags
etc.
(I also remove and re-insert the tank every so often, checking fluid level, maybe this relieves the vacuum people report, that they think contributes to leaks.)

but i've quickly learned each vaper is different... so you may hate them, you may love them.

I'm happy with mine, I guess since, I've not had any of the issues, it just suits the way I'd vape anyway...

and yes, that wouldn't be too bad a deal... not the best i've seen, but not bad at all.... especially if this is from a Brick & Mortar... I'm a big fan of supporting B&Ms

I enjoy the setup of the blu, and how easy it is to use, so sticking with carts might be an idea. However, how long of a life do carts that go with an ego setup have? I don't want to be constantly buying them. It looks on her site that I can get the ego setup without the tank, rather just blank carts and atomizers. I could find out what the price for this setup would be.

Frankly, I love my tank and it produces huge vapor. That being said I only use VG based juice. I have have very little problem with leaking. that being said my wife has had plenty of problems with leakage and improper wicking. Folks remember these are built by the lowest bidder and some variance in quality is going to happen.

I have an assortment of dual coil LR carts that I think makes the flavor taste better. They do not seem to produce the vape my tank does thou. the draw on the carts is better and less restrictive. That may be the issue with the huge plume of vapor I get from my tank though.

You are just going to have to play around and find what you like. I can say I have ZERO want for real tobaco of any kind. I have become quite the flavor hound now. :)

Cheers and happy hunting,

ndt

There are a TON of carts that fit the eGo's 510 connection... anything "510" will fit(in theory) so it all depends on what type of cart you get... there's even tank mod carts that hold like 4ml of liquid...

I'd get a starter kit, either eGo-T or standard eGo and then mix and match and see what you like... that's how I'm doing it.

Yinzer its a good buy to keep you off the analogs and your gonna be surprise how long that 1000mah last .
For me a somewhat heavy vapor its lasted me the whole day. I have 3 of those batteries and used marker to number them and then put them in a rotation when 1st battery was charging i vaped with #2 and so on.
I have not had the leaking issue with the tanks as some have had though.

I have moved on to a few mods but my trusty ego tank sits on the desk and i still vape with it as well. Those 3 Batteries are still charging since May 2011.
Its a local shop your getting yours from and i would go ahead and make the pruchase if it were me.
Like buying a car there seems to always be a better deal if one looks but mom and pop shops could use the support. :)

I have been thinking about the same system, then on another thread I saw a-lot of folks set-ups, seems people really like the tank/carto combo with the clear outer tank, this looks pretty convincing seeing this is top dollar stuff saw the batts around $200-$250 for the vari-volt, BUT too big... so that is why I'm wondering do the clear/tank/carto come in a size that fits on the ego-t battery with the option of changable mouthpieces?

Cartomizers generally last about a week, sometimes longer depending on the juice- darker, sediment laden juices clog quicker and they're about $2.00 each. You can also buy mega or XL cartos that take much more juice thus you're re filling them less.

for someone who is new i would not suggest the tanks. It is a lot of maintenance. I started out with a 650 ego t battery with 510 cartomizers and tanks. The tanks were not big enough for me so I then upgraded to carto's. Carto's give great flavor and vape. I now have thrown in an ego c tank system. The tank has its negatives and positives. I still vape my carto's.

If I were you I would do a carto setup to start. Easy to use, low maintenance, decent capacity.

If you did want to go with a tank system I would recommend the Ego C.

Maybe this will help. Here's the link:

Joye eGo starter kit

Now she switched out some batteries (1000 vs 650) and the price I quoted above was for tank system. So, with this setup, I could also buy and use cartomizers? The battery is interchangeable? What about using just atomizers and blank carts? She said the atomizers tend to last quite a while, and blank carts seem really cheap.

I def wouldn't get the eGo tanks. If you want an eGo just get a regular one and use cartos.
I would also check out the Riva, kGo, and Epower. Their are similar to the eGo but are 3.7V PVs.
All 3 are cheaper than the eGo-T kit your looking at and personally I think a 3.7V PV gives a better vape than a 3.3-3.4V eGo.

As for the carts your talking about, people were actually referring to cartomizers. A cartomizer is an atty and cartridge in one. Most people prefer them over an atty and a cartridge. They hold a lot more juice and are more consistant

Same Kit here but $10.00 cheaper and after the 20% discount ends up costing $40.00 as opposed to $60.00. And the vendor is an ECF listed Vendor. I strongly recommend getting at least 950- 1000 mah.
