I have been looking to upgrade my MVP 2.0 and igo-l. At fist I wanted one of the high power vv/vw mods (i.e. hana modz, IPV2, etc) but I soon realized that none of the mods currently on the market fit the bill for me. The new 100w sigelei looks promising but I want to wait for reviews and first batch kinks to be worked out. So in the mean time I have been beginning to think mech, I have been reading up on battery safety and know how to use a multi meter. I have been thinking Stingray, Sentinel M16, or Panzer clones but I am having trouble narrowing it down. Also I have been trying to decide on 18650 vs 26650 battery's and a new RDA to go with the new mod. Could anyone help point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

I own k100, Stingray clone, nemesis clone, 4nine clone. Imo the older sting ray switch is garbage the Stingray x on the other hand is a different story :) out of what I have I love the 4nine it's small, working magnetic switch, direct 510 (hybrid type) top cap for less voltage drop, recessed fire button so no need for lock.

Hope this helps out. most mechs are good biggest difference between the ones I have used is the switch in terms of functionality.

Forum: Simple Solutions
Absolute beginners - please ask your questions here and get straightforward answers. Nothing is too basic here - ask away!

ECF members are extremely helpful to newcomers, as a rule, but we may sometimes pitch the advice a little high. Maybe too much tech stuff or slang. In particular, we might sometimes push new members too far as regards fashion or technology. Becaues of that, there are 2 major rules in this board:

1. Don't baffle them with slang: explain it simply.

2. No mechmods or RBAs here please. Don't even mention them - thank you.

If newcomers are thinking about upgrading from a mini, then suggest an eGo + clearo or something like that - and explain why. Or something that won't blow their mind trying to figure it all out. Thanks!

I am rocking my 4nine tight now while reading your thread! The only issue I have is while it's pocket sized because it has no lock it isn't pocket compatible-but it is an awesome little mod. If you are building hot, the 4nine will heat up quickly with it's size but it has awesome voltage drop so it's a trade off. One of the most important things about the mech is what you plan on building with it and what type of battery you use. If you don't think you will use 18350 or 18500's than I wouldn't bother with a telescoping mod like the Sentinel. I have an original m16 and I love it but the silver plating on the switch wears off as you spin the mod up to make connection.
For ease of use nothing beats a Stingray 18650 triple tube set (not extension tubes I don't like the extra threading). The floating pin and the spin on switch are simple and the mod is small so it's nice. Right now I am using a 4nine but I bounce back and forth a lot-my usuals are
manhattan
copper cartel
m16
stingray
and for desktop occasionally tesla m7 and stingray 26650
Hope that helps!

I definitely recommend Nemesis style. They may be old hat these days but still such a simple and safe mechanical with their insulated bottom button design and no battery rattle pin adjustment BS.

I have upgraded mine with a hybrid connection for my Kayfun as well as using an Evolv Kick2 with 18500 batteries in 18650 tube mode. Also recently I cleaned all the Nolox (Ox-Guard) from the switch that I'd originally used to make the switch less crunchy, and started using dry graphite lube.. damn flawless mod now.

If you want something telescopic, the I would suggest the Beyond Vape Beacon Mod Red [bv-bea-mod-red] - $65.00 : Beyond Vape, premium vaporizers and e-cigarettes . It's a great little mech that can be small or full-size, depending on your configuration. For an authentic mod, it's reasonably affordable, and built really well. It comes in a variety of colors as well...

If you have a bigger budget, and absolutely need 100+ watts, then I would say find a box mod with a GE Naos Raptor chip in it. They can reach to 120 watts, but they are typically a much larger form factor so you probably won't be carrying it around in your pocket :D

Are you budget sensitive?
To an extent, yes. I still have to buy batteries and a charger. I also want to get a legit ohm meter as I have been using my MVP for that. I am thinking in the ball park of $50 for the mod. I don't have plans to use a kick or any battery smaller then an 18650. With this in mind I am thinking stingray or panzer. I am also still stuck between 26650 and 18650.

Both Stingray and panzer are great choices imo. I would strongly recommended if you go Stingray get the Stingray x much better switch. As for 26650 vs 18650 that's up to you depends on how big of a device u want.
