I opened my little vial of AP- GAWD that stuff stinks-but I still want to try it.

I only have TPA RY4-type 1 and RY4 Double. Can somebody suggest a good starting point for getting an idea of how to use AP? Somewhere I think I saw either 8 or 10% RY4 and 1% AP. Should I try the double or the type 1? The type 1 *should* be less sweet, correct? I do like Hangsen's 555- nutty, almost harsh at times. Sweet is good, but not all the time!

Maybe I'm being overly cautious, but I'm trying to have at least a few minor successes by using common recipes before I get too ambitious with mixing.

AP is best when used with "Bready" or Nutty" -type juices, but actually works very nicely with tobacco juices as well IMHO....but the stuff is POTENT. NEVER use more than 1% AP, or your juice will turn to burnt Corn Chips Flavor! Even 5 drops in 30ml can be overpowering...Most DIYers dilute it heavily before use...

I mix my AP 5% down to 4 drops in 6ml PG , then use 1 drop of this dilution in 5 ml of final juice.. But that's to my tastes, and works for me. Start with less, taste, and work your way up - AP requires very little steeping time, so you can more or less tune it on the fly, though it will smooth out as the juice steeps....especially with tobacco-based juices.

Good luck...

I just put that together for the first time 3 days ago. The AP is a bit strong, IMO, and in future batches, I should probably use less, unless something magical happens with more steeping time.

TFA's description of the D-RY4 is: "This flavor is a stronger and more caramel type flavor than our original RY4. Some customers detect a very slight fruity note to this flavor, but others don't. We also offer RY4 Asian, which has no fruity note.

I use AP at less than 1%... to make it easier to work with, I keep a bottle of AP mixed in PG at 10% around. One of my favorite tobacco mixes uses the 10% AP at 3% (which really ends up being .3%). I can't imagine going over 1% with that stuff. Even at .3% it's a very nutty tobacco recipe. At higher levels it seems like it would be hard to still taste the tobacco.

There was a sort of recipe I found here, 1 drop AP in 5ml PG. Just like NamVet said but even less AP. Use 1 drop of that mixture per 5ml of juice. For me that's perfect. I tried using 1 drop of AP straight per 5ml and it was so incredibly overpowering I had to toss the mix.
I think it's one of those things that some people are more sensitive to than others.
