Somewhere out there
The only reason i don't suggest fasttech for a first kit is that it takes about 2 weeks for shipping to the US. Two weeks is very good for a Hong Kong supplier, but seems like forever when you're anxious to get started. They are great for add on supplies that you don't need immediately.

High Desert has VV Twists for only a few dollars more Ego Type Batteries They're in the US and ship fast. (don't forget to order a charger though).

Being as you really don`t want to spend out a fortune on your first foray into vaping, but want to have something that will do the job it might be worth thinking along the lines of..

Two Generic Ego style VV battery (such as Twist or Spinner)
One 650mah (discreet) and one 1000mah.
A charger that fits both.
A pack of pre-filled cartomisers (why pay the same price for blanks)
A top wick clearomiser (mini-nova) and a bottom wick clearomiser (evod/protank)
A small selection of E-liquid (to be used to re-fill the cartomisers when empty as well as the clearo`s).

That should cover everything you need to get started and give you the chance to find a preference in vaping style and the delivery method that suits you and shouldn`t work out anymore expensive than a starter kit with less options?

Just my thought :D

I did call a vape store (no brick and mortars near me) and the person I spoke to had a different idea for what would work for me. He said variables don't work for newbies (apparently we burn them out?) and then suggested an imist 650 kit. He felt I needed a low resistance (1.5) dual coil cartomizer and a 5v output battery. I'm not knocking his opinion or his merchandise, (ok, so I'm not crazy about the flat mouth piece, but he was very nice and sounded like he knew what he was talking about!) I just still feel a bit lost.

Thoughts please?

Ida know. Dual coils? LR? 5v? Already? That's the kind of stuff I see advanced vapers talk about. May be a great kit (I don't know that one myself) but sounds a bit like getting thrown into the deep end of the pool when you're first learning to swim.

Something more along the lines of this one is what I'd recommend: Twist/Spinner Combo. Does not have to be that kit, does not have to be that vendor. They just have a nice combo set up. Easy to link to and say: "Like that". :)

eGo style batteries have tons of options available so you try other things out later. The variable voltage is nice. Liquids can taste different at different "heat" levels. The Twist and Spinner are easy to twiddle. You just turn the knob at the bottom.

The little tank widgets, the clearomizers? Easy to fill, easy to clean. Which is nice.

The GotVapes StartMeUp! kit Leal recommended is also a nice "one stop" starter. Though not variable voltage. But you could add a VV battery later. Since we're talking eGo, lots of things will swap in and out and you can try a bunch of stuff if you want.

Vamos, eVics, Provaris, all great kit. But they're considered "advanced". That's definitely jumping into the deep end of the pool. Which may work great for you. It may leave you absolutely baffled. Dunno.

I've been tempted by the eVic myself. But my checkbook laughs itself silly over the idea every time. :)

Candik - to tell you the truth it sounds like you've done enough research already to kind of know what you want. Get what you want & learn how to use it;)
I started with ego batteries & plan to stick with 'em; but I'm hoping someday to put the whole thing down so I'm not interested in these big bad moma's some of the folks on here have - although I do love the community and seeing it all  Well, ok....I'm interested, but not gonna spend that kind of money:laugh:

A VV unit like a twist or spinner is a great option for a new vapor an EVOD or PROTANK would make a great fail safe delivery devise I would recomend a Vivi nova but they are hard to come by and i think the evod out performs it ...

Also nuthing wrong with a simple box of Boge LR cartos to wet your feet ...they work well and are easy to figure out..

once you discover that you enjoy Vaping...then worry about a VV/VW..and if you decide its for you a Vamo is an excellent option and very easy to learn.

i am glad to hear you want to vape :) and i like you i just made the switch a month or so ago..maybe two months, and i was urged to get the blu starter, i liked the disposables ( which i like heavy hittle a little more, just recently tried one a friend had) but the blu kit really didn't help me QUIT! i was still smoking , its a little stepping stone into the vaping world, then i went to a tanning bed shop/ head/vaping store  lol i know, and i got a cheap EGO 510 starter kit, :vapor: i <3 it!! i just recently went to a Ego twist and i Recently tried smoking a ciggy, let me tell you i was standing there like SCREW THIS put it out and went to my EGO they taste nasty to the flovorings you can get!!! and it takes time. but i also am over wanting a cigg when i wake up :)

I wish I had known some vapers when I started. Would have saved me some money. It was like some kind of secret club or something. It's gotten a lot more open finally. A Joyetech eGo starter kit with clearomizers would be my advice. Go for the 1000mah. Charge lasts a bit longer than the standard 650. You can also get an eGo twist (VV) starter kit, I think. The Vision STV Tanks have done well for me also. If you get the 1000mah batteries get the higher resistance (2.4 or 2.8)clearomizers, tanks, replacement heads. They seem to work and taste better and longer. Prices vary, but my best vendors are MyFreedomSmokes.com, MadVapes.com, and AquaVapor.com.
All have good selections, reasonable prices, and excellent customer service. Good Luck!

Right? The only vapers I've come across are ones using the cigalikes (logic, blue, etc.,) and I know those aren't gonna cut it for me. I want something durable, that can be a little more "tailored" for whatever my needs turn out to be and is cost friendly. I would love love love to be able to go to a brick and mortar and be able to physically check out what's available but alas! There are none around. (wistful sigh...) If it weren't for this forum, I'd probably end with the local status quo. I'm so grateful to learn I have options!

Definitely how I felt! I left the conversation with information to consider, but a slew of new questions to ponder...

An ego c twist would be a great starting point and you don't have to spend a lot to try it. I got my egos from Vicki at cignot! she has helped me more times than i can count when I was first getting started. always answering my questions etc. i started with them and my partner still uses them however in 2 weeks time I found myself wanting more.

I ended up getting a sigelei zmax kit with battery and charger for less than $100. Very solid device and super easy. I was so worried I would not be able to understand the menu and how to change it etc...but once I got it I was like well crap that was a piece of cake. I find it hard to use my egos now. Since then I bought a billet box which is awesome b the way but that was strictly a frivolous buy but WELL worth it. Anyway for less than $100 at varitube.com you can get the sigelei zmax kit. Not to mention Perry has excellent customer service. I like the VV/VW option while I am still fairly new as I don't have to change the voltage of my resistance on my delivery device if it is different. Makes it super easy, I just put whatever device I want to use on the zmax and it works for me. Once I got use to it I felt like I could easily use an APV that is just a vv device and at least have more experience on how to set it.

There are a ton of choices out there and everyone has their favorites. I just ended up focusing on one and went from there. The more i thought about the choices the more confused i got. Get a good solid device then you can look at all the other choices out there.

Sounds like you found a great product that suits you! That's what I'm hoping to accomplish as well. Thanks!

I have an ego-T and just recently got a vamo. I love the vamo so far, but I also like the ego and will still use it. The vamo is definitely heavier and is not something I want to carry around with me all day, for that I'll still use the ego. For pure vaping power at the house I'll put my ego's on the charger and use the vamo.

I like the added versatility of the Vamo and it's one I'm definitely considering. ........ shared a great priced Vamo kit (under $50 with the discount code!) on his blogspot. I am sooooo tempted by it since it has most of what I would need instead of buying piecemeal like I would have to do with the ego-v 650. I also like that I wouldn't have to do anything to supplement the power source other than buy additional batteries. Much nicer than trying to decide on another ego... I don't care about the additional weight or size since I'm pretty sure it's a good trade-off for not smelling or tasting like an ashtray... So glad you like yours!

Watch out with that kit. I was tempted at first, but then I noticed that the charger is shown with a European plug and the batteries are labeled as ICR, you really want IMR type batteries instead. VaporBreak has a good price on the Vamo alone, then you can pick up good batteries and charger from fasttech or somewhere else. One 18650 doesn't have the safety concerns that stacked 18350s have either.

    Better batteries and charger

I was looking at that one too! I was checking out the forum regarding vamos and came across a thread with the vaporbreak vamo info. If you log in, the price is supposed to be even better than the one shown on the page but I haven't tried that yet. I liked the idea that the fasttech one came with goodies, but yeah, I'd have to come up with another charger. I'm gonna do some comparison price shopping on that since it is a little more than the ego-v. But ohmigosh! So many more options with the Vamo! I do so like choices! :p

Oh! I just realized, (obviously being up til 4am and being at work with not nearly enough caffeine makes me brain dead!) the Vaporbreak one is the Vamo V2 whereas the Fasttech is just the Vamo..

VaporBreak is where I got mine. It worked out to $31.26 with shipping. Well worth it, even considering having to track down IMR batteries and charger elsewhere.

Wow! That's a very nice price! Thanks!!!!! Ok, Sold! I'll get the Vamo V2 there and the rest of the stuff from the other place (prob some vivi nova's and maybe some c style unless there's something else that works better?) Now all I have to do is figure out what flavor juice....
