Hi everyone, I just got my Tornado from Totally Wicked and the vapor production is amazing. Super satisfying, I love it although I'm new to the 510 carts and atomizer thing. It uses the Titan carts. Way more and better Vapor that Vapor King batteries/carts I've been using.
While those things last a good 100 or so draws usually, I'm having major issues with the 510 atty/cart combo.
First impression, using the stock "tobacco" carts. Put it all together, put the cart in, gave it a sec, started vaping. Tastes like BURNT PLASTIC. *blech*
Took the cart out, primed it with some tastyfinger by tasty vapor (mmmmmmm), stuck the cart back in. 3-4 drags later, got the burnt plastic taste. Yes, the cart was full of liquid. Topped it offso there is now a pool of liquid on top, not soaking in anymore so I put it back in. 3-5 good drags, and back to the same taste. Tried another cart, same thing. Tried the 2nd atomizer, even worse. Is this a new atomizer thing, or a new cart thing, or what?
Where does the plastic/death flavor come from? Is it the filler burning up, the atomizer priming fluid (didn't see any, it seemed to be dry as the atomizer and carts come separate) or what?
I tried rinsing the atomizer and drying it out, (wash rinse repeat), and same thing. WTF?
Is it just me? As I previously mentioned, WTFWTFWTF!?!?!?
I tried direct dripping which was nice, I actually got more drags out of it than with the cart on. These things are too popular to have this problem all the time. It seems the liquid is not wicking into the atomizer bridge at all. I am giving it time between vapes, I did notice it's less of an issue when I hold down the button for one second rather than three, though I like the awesome hit with a longer pull. Sure I am a chain vaper, but I'm getting that flavor when I even take a light drag of the tobacco flavor.
All in all, assuming this is an easily fixable thing, I love the Tornado as it seems to be utterly the s**t.

Another question - the atomizer has a white rectangle at the bottom; I'm assuming this should line up with the rectangle on the opening of the cart but the bridge seems to be running perpendicular to this inner rectangle in the atty.

For some reason I can't find this info on this site; I may be looking in the wrong place but I even read the "10 ways to avoid a Harsh, burnt, chemical taste on your 501" thread. The 'Let the fluid wick into the bridge between drags' solution helped a bit, but still after 5 or 10 it starts tasting awful.

Thanks for the help in advance eveyone, I refer to this site all the time for you helpful suggestions.

Vaping just with the prefilled cartridge when you first got it could be the problem. Scorched the atty wicking under the bridge. Pretty common with a new 510 user. Here is some info. with good pictures about it in this thread.

New attys do have primer, but really, as of the last 4-5 months or so, all my new 510 don't have a bad primer taste in them. I never have to blow it out, so doubt if that is the problem.

When you say you primed it after the burned flavor of the prefilled cartridge, did you put liquid on the atomizer bridge?

Best advise I read when I first started using the 510 was to put a drop or two of liquid on the atomizer bridge EVERY time you top off a cartridge (and do it often). Keeps it plenty wet and I never get a scorched flavor that way. My attys last for a good 6 months plus...

If it continues, try soaking it in PGA (such as Everclear). Blow out the PGA after a 2 hour soak (it evaporates, so no need to rinse with water). Prime with 4-5 drops, let sit a few minutes and put a topped cartridge on it and try again.

Hopefully, the wicking under the bridge isn't scorched and that will solve it.

I used to think the cartridge needed to be lined up, but for the last 5 months or so I've not bothered and it doesn't make a bit of difference.

Hi
The 510 attys all have the primer fluid on them that tastes like crap. That has to be gotten rid of. Also flooding a 510 will result in the same taste.
Take the attys off, apart and blow them out (blow from open end). At this point you will probably get a lot of juice coming out. Keep going until nothing comes out. Clean the battery end off and reattach to tornado. Do a burn off by lightly blowing in the open end while pressing the button for about 5 seconds. Let it cool and repeat.
Now start over. Put 2 drops of juice on atty and let soak in. Fill the cart so its damp on the top, not a puddle or you will flood it again. Put it on and give it a try. Should taste better.
It takes a while for attys to really break in and work good. Most of the juice that comes with the carts tastes kinda funky anyway.
