Greetings one and all,

So, I'm looking to spend some of this money that is burning a hole in my pocket, and I've got my eye on a Revolution. I watched Mindfield's review, and am looking at picking up the Kanger bottom-coil cartos and a 510-510 adapter along with it, per his recommendations, and maybe some more juice to try, as well.

(Back when I was on a pipe forum, the burning desire to spend lots of money was called 'PAD', or Pipe Acquisiton Disorder. I am hereby dubbing my newfound compulsion to spend 'VAD', or vape Acquisition Disorder.)

Anyway, a couple of questions. First of all, when I see Kanger horizontal-coil cartos for sale, are they automatically bottom-coil as well?

Second, third, fourth, and fifth, any opinions on the Revolution? For the price, is it adequate? Any caveats the more experienced Revolution users would like to share? Does it work better with thinner juices, or to put it another way, would it be difficult to use with an all-VG juice?

Cheers,

Mike

I used a Rev 2.1 with 70/30 PG/VG and a 1.7 smoktech single coil.

I liked the plugin-ability and the juice feeding, but in the long term, the messiness, cheap build quality, leaking/bottle/needle issues ultimately turned me away.

It did introduce me to bottom feeding and point me in the direction of my daily outdoor driver, my Reo.

Mike, Get the Vapage VMOD XL or the Reo Grand (lot harder to get) and be done with it. The build quality and performance of the Revolution will not even come close to either of the those.

As for the Kangers, they are all bottom coil, and while they did not work for me, there are others that swear by them. You will have to try them and make up your own mind. If I had to recommend something, it would be the bottom feeding or bridgeless atties to use on the bottom feeders.

I'll second Dusty_D and tell you if you want a bottom feeder that is indestructible (literally) and awesome go straight for a Reo Grand. I own both a Grand and Mini, for the car or when I'm out and about I prefer to use the mini because its easier to shift gears and its stealthy, but the grand is really a nice fog machine with a AW 18650 IMR batt and a 1.5 Ohms 306 atty.

and thats my 2 cents:2c:

In response to the Kangers, the horizontal coils in them are at the bottom. (I just took one apart last night and may put up pics).

Having looked at these mods a wee bit, I was under the impression that the Revolution does not last very long. Down the road, I'm thinking of picking up a VMOD by Vapage for my entry level bottom feeder experience.

My Rev is almost 6 months old and works (and look) like new;it also hold a charge and last(the charge) like nothing else.

Its the only mod I can use outside when its -25C (its hidden under my coat but anything else, just getting it out and taking a vape, freezes)

I used it with Boge,Kanger and brdgless atties;

Boge are good straight up (but I hate cartos) Kangers need an adapter (or the draw is locked) and bridgless atties are nice

Diverging opinions.

That is the intertubes !!

Sure vapage is appealing, yet, even with coupon, its 2x the price of a V2 and you dont even know if you will like bottom feeders.

I used the REV with 1.7's as well, and found it to be just "OK." I've since realized that bottom feeders just aren't for me so I have moved on from it and since found the GGTS to be my go to device know.
Personally though, the REV may be a perfect "starter" bottom feeding mod to see if you like the concept of it or not. Just my opinion of course.

Well, certainly a lot of provender for the workings of the mind.

I was initially attracted to the Revolution simply for the capacity (both battery and juice) and the fact that it seemed easy to top up. Will have to do some more thinking.

I've also had my eye on a lavatube (which isn't really *that* much more), and I suppose I could just grab some tanks for the not-having-to-fill-as-much aspect I'm looking for.

Decisions, decisions...

Thanks everyone for your input.

I agree with Martin. I have two of these, and they aren't as crappy as some (who usually haven't used it) will lead you to believe. It is a bit on the flimsy side, with the box creaking a bit when you squonk your juice bottle. I could never get bottom feeding to work for me period, on this or any other bottom fed box, so I can't comment so much on that part. I can say that it has a KILLER battery life. It's like the Energizer Bunny, it just keeps going and going and going and going. I enjoy that I can just plug it into my USB and keep vaping, and I don't have to have a separate batteries and charger and muck with that. It's convenient to vape as a passthru while at your PC, so that your battery is always fully charged when you go out. It's a great size, easy and comfortable to hold in the hand or put in the pocket. It vapes very well for a 3.7v device IMO.

I don't like that it has a short threading, but most everything I've tried will fit on it and as you already know, a 510 adapter will solve anything that won't. Overall, for a $40 bottom feeder kit, it's great. Obviously it isn't a Reo, but then again it's not $200+ either ;)

On cartos -- I like both Boge and Kanger, though I feel that Boge's QC has recently dropped considerably. They're my favourite two cartos, easily.

So, everyone's brought something to the table for me to chew on, and for that I am always appreciative.

For the price point, I'm definitely not expecting a whole lot. Mindfield seemed to be impressed by it, but that could just be the performance:cost ratio coming into play as well.

I'm still kind of on the fence on whether or not I want to drop the $40 on it, seeing as bottom feeding's not for everyone. (That might also be the Scotsman in me.) It seems a little finicky, and I have very little patience for things like that. Then again, so is refilling cartos the usual way, so I can't base a decision solely on that.

One thing I'm definitely intent on trying out is variable voltage, so perhaps a Lavatube is the wiser choice, for now. It seems like it's much more versatile. Down the road a month or two? Probably.

Anyway, thanks again, everyone for your comments.

You've taken up the wrong "hobby" if you don't like finicky stuff amigo. We're all about the finicky here. One day it's the juice, the next it's the centre posts, then it's the batteries, then the atties or the cartos, collapsed springs anyone?! Trust me, you'll get used to finicky real quick!!

The pursuit for perfection is a long road my friend, and you're just getting started.. :)
