Hello everyone.

First time for me here. I just got my first real vape today and I'm in love. I received it in the mail at about 1 pm today and have not touched an analog since. For someone who smokes about a pack and half a day normally I'd say that's a start. :) I got the Ego-C twist with vivi-nova tank so I can replace the atomizer? I don't know a lot about all this stuff yet. I'm sure i'll learn soon from this forum though, holy crap there is a lot of info on here!

My one issue that I'm running into though is I don't know when to stop vaping. haha. That might sound silly, but it's like with an analog you reach the filter, you .... it, you're done. With my vape, I could just sit here and puff all day, and I can't quite figure out when to stop, since technically there is no end to it. Did any of you run into this when you first started? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Holly

I had the same issue I would vape a ton then get a headache. I have found I'll vape for a bit (like ten minutes)then put it down. I used to chain smoke two analogs when I was smoking and used to take me about ten minutes, you will find a happy medium and I think it is different for everyone. Good luck and keep up the good work!

Hi Holly,
I found that when I started vaping too. As long as you are not feeling sick or getting a headache you are fine to keep vaping. If you get a headache or feel a bit ill then stop - you will have had a bit too much nicotine.
Do drink lots of water or fluids while you're vaping though - it dehydrates you. So drink more than you used to.
And enjoy. :)

Thanks so much for your reply. That makes sense! Ok so between realizing to take breaks and making my mind realize that I no longer need to get up and go outside (I smoked analogs outside, not in my apartment), I should be good. However, although I have not seemed to crave an analog, I have caught myself physically getting up to head towards the door, habit, it's odd. :)

I think most new people go through this. I would smoke 5-20 cigs a day but I seem to be vaping constantly now. With a bigger sets (ego twists, spinners with big tanks etc) there seems to be a tendency to do it more I think than the smaller analog type clones for whatever reason. I'm vaping a bit less now than when I started but I'm still probably going through 3-5ml of eliquid a day. I think once the new toy phase is over you begin to moderate it a bit better.

I know what you mean. I never smoked in the bedroom. When I started vaping I couldn't bring myself to vape there either - and still hardly ever do. The physical routines become strong don't they.

Former Detroit Boy here, and long time smoker too. Got my Ego-c last friday, stopped smoking that afternoon at 3PM.
Vaped like a fool that night, not to sickness- just throat tired and insomnia.
Learned to vape for half hour then put it away for awhile (but all those flavors taste sooo good).
I think you will learn to vape awhile, then give it a rest-the niccotene takes longer to absorb by vapping so you don't get the direct "hit" you get via analogs- but you will know where you have had enough.
Smoke Free eight days- and really have no desire for a 'burro'.
Best to you Holly.

I had the same issue at first but it will go away in time. I found it helpful to keep my pv near me and I take a vape whenever I feel like it.

I notice that I'm vaping more often but for shorter intervals than smoking.Give it some time you'll settle into a natural groove before you know it and it will become second nature in a few weeks.

Welcome to the forums and to vaping as well!

The craving for a cigarette may return. If and when it does, vape harder and more frequently to see if that rids you of the craving. Try to figure out is it a physical craving or psychological craving from habit.

If the above doesn't help and you feel you REALLY need that cigarette, smoke a part of one and put it out. Keep it around for the next time. It won't be long when you will be able to taste just how bad those cigs are compared to vaping. The partially smoked cig will be even worse than a fresh one when you go back to it, just to reinforce why you are quitting.

If you vape way more than you smoke, the vaping will soon win out. I allowed myself a couple of cigarettes a day when I first started vaping. Within a week, I didn't have any desire for smoking. When the last pack was gone and finished, so was I.

I vape as much as I want, which is a lot. But since I began vaping 10 months ago, I've cut my nicotine strength in my e-liquids from 24mg down to 12mg.

Wow thanks everyone for the replies. :)

Thanks for this, didn't know that and hadn't come across this useful tidbit amongst the millions pages here yet.

Thanks :) You know, I think you hit the nail on the head with the shorter interval/more often statement. I think that is exactly what I am doing too. It feels to me like I never put it down, but I think in actuality I am taking a couple/few hits and stopping, but picking it up sooner than I would be an analog. So it seems like I never quit. lol

Hey there OP, New here too, i'm having the same issue. I dont know when to stop, I havent gotten a headache yet either. LOL this thing literally hasn't left my hands since i got it.

No headache? Keep going then?!? Seems to be the general consensus. hehe

Hi Holly,

I was thinking the same thing today. I felt like I was dragging it around with me all day and continuously vaping. I did get a bit shaky last night a stopped for a bit.

I do find myself reaching for my analogs out of habit a lot but I hope that will get less.

Congrats on being smoke free, I hope your phantom arm starts behaving soon! hehe.

Go GREEN, better kick some Nebraska .... tomorrow!! :) Congrats on being smoke free and thank you for the insight. :D

I've been vaping for more than a year and a half and I still don't know when to stop. I stopped worrying about it long ago.

I am quickly realizing by the replies that I shouldn't worry about it either. :)

Good advice! Thank you for bringing back down to earth for a moment haha. I have been so elated with the fact that I haven't even remotely craved an analog, that the thought that I might eventually start wanting one later down the road after I had been vaping for a while hadn't even occurred. The idea of smoking a half and the saving the other half is not a bad idea. Kinda like psychological aversion therapy! I like it hehe. Although I hope I don't have to cross that bridge.

I don't understand the question.i haven't put mine down since day one. If I'm not eating or drinking, I'm vaping.

Yes I'm noticing that I was silly for wondering if when the "stopping" point is. :p

I vape while eating and drinking. ;)

Now that is talent! I think I might be able to master the drinking, but eating? That is a true art form. Congrats :D

You made me chuckle with this one. I used to have a friend who would take a bite of food then a drag off a cigarette...rinse and repeat. My little brother and I actually told him needed to stop because it wasnt healthy for him and was gross. Now I relaize how totally hypocritical that sounded.

I might have to give this a try myself.

During my first week, I turned to my husband and said'...I would usually tell you that I was headed to bed when my cig was done. I almost said that now, but...(looking pointedly at my eGo/carto-tank) if I tried that, I'd be here for a while!!'

Ya - my auto timer is gone! One of my first questions was...um...when do I stop? It doesn't go out! Now, having been a heavy smoker, the "vape when you would have smoked" idea still means only when conscious. As the switch is still quite new for me, I focus on: Hey! I'm not smoking! instead of : How much am I vaping?

I do put it down sometimes....sleeping...shower....okay, that's about it!
