Myself, I have no doubt that I am a grade A nicotine junkie.

However, blending (1) a nicotine junkie with (2) one who hates and resents smoking cigarettes within the same person creates a whole bunch of psychological stress and tension. For 20+ years I have detested the stink, filth, stigma, health issues and inconvenience of analogs, and attempted to quit them every other month. The past two years has seen me dependent on nicotine gum and patches (talk about expensive!), yet still smoking analogs occasionally during the day. My spouse is the other side of the coin: he has smoked non-stop for years, never minded the filth or negative health effects, and has never even considered quitting.

"Discovering" e-cigs has been a complete trip. At times I've been struck with a sense of the ridiculous at how a whole technological industry has arisen around a slick, techie way to deliver us our fix of vaporized nicotine. Most of the time I feel only gratitude that these devices have made it possible to get my fix without the filth and stink of burrning tobacco.

"Wouldn't it be simpler and cheaper just to quit?", I can imagine non-addicts wondering. Perhaps, except that I enjoy nicotine, and have no interest in the moment at giving it up. Nicotine is the very least of my addictions--my other "drugs of choice" I choose simply to abstain from, in order to preserve my life and sanity.

I don't know if twenty years in the future will still find me partaking some form of clean, electronic nicotine. I hope not, my opinion is that a drug-free life would be preferable. Yet today I find myself addicted to nicotine, and to a lesser extent, caffeine. I can accept that without shame, and thoroughly enjoy e-smoking today.

Totally relate to this thread. I am thrilled to have found e-cigs and have accumulated three types. Like them all. It feels as though there is less nicotine in my system than with tobacco cigs so that makes the early days more full of vaping. Gradually, over weeks, the desire to have the vaporizer around always is subsiding. Enjoying the nicotine and hand to mouth action, but have confidence that it will be more of an occasional pleasure than an obsession to relieve tobacco craving. My cousin calls my vaporizer my "baba." Have to chuckle because it's true at times. Using a screwdriver much of the time now because battery lasts most of the day. Like the 901 and mini cig too for inconspicuousness and nice function.

I think the SD looks like some kind of crack pipe and probably would draw alot of attention in public. Anyone use one regularly in public??

I don't own a SD but I do vape on different models in the Ambulance. Got the ok from the boss as long as I use a blue led so people don't think it's an analog.

I don't vape on calls or with patients on board but there is plenty of down time. Now I don't have to get out and smoke and then have my partner ..... about how I stank.

I also noticed that since I quit analogs I'm not so shakey when I'm starting the IV's. I'm a firm believer in that even though most of my juice is 18mg and I'm vapeing all day, I'm still not getting the same amount as I was while smoking 2 1/2 packs a day.

Part of it is that I'm a Clinton now. I don't inhale the vapor like I used to inhale the smoke. I'm more of a puffer now.

an amusing "kid" story... i think i must have been a very odd one.. he he he

when i was around six or seven i became aware of not alway having the right feeling.. like happy when others were happy or sad when i dint want to be..

now for the weird bit.. i used to wish for button in my head i could just press.. a happy setting.. a normal setting or whatever setting my young brain thought appropriate.. cos it seemed to me left to its own devices my mood often didnt seem the right one.. he he

okay we still dont have that magic button.. but we do have "mind altering drugs".. a pretty crude alternative to my childish "magic" button.. but it is what we use these drugs for.. altering the way we feel..

i also know why nature hasnt given us this "magic" button.. and why our controllers dont like the idea.. tho the military would love a "kill" button.. and our controllers would love a "do as we say" button..

most of us would just be in "happy" button setting tho and get bugger all done.. he he he

Bristow, Ok.
I am obsessed with not smoking. I have done it for so long. I am constantly spending money and having things break. I just ordered a GG. Hope it gets here fast. Maybe now I will have the ultimate and stop buying everything. I have a big supply of batteries and atomizers but not of the same kind and nothing is working good at the moment. Soon I will have an adapter so I can use more than one atomizer. I sure hope the spending and tinkering will stop. I will not go back to smoking.

This is a fascinating thread. Since I started with e-cigs back in October I've noticed that, although I'm vaping most of the time when at home, if I do something that is more conveniently done without an e-cig in hand then I do it that way. I don't feel uncomfortable or get a sudden urge to vape. When I smoked and wasn't smoking for some reason I was ALWAYS getting sudden urges to smoke when in inconvenient places (the library, for example). I think that this is a pretty clear indication of (at minimum) less severe addiction - and that in itself has to be worth the expenditure on e-cigs to date.

Kendra I can totally relate to what you're saying!

On a humorous note - imagine how people walking around with the Prodigy (which is suppesdly way bigger than the screwdriver!) will feel! I mean come on.... the size of that thing is just ridiculous! :D
Not supposedly, it IS at least twice the size of the SD (did you see the size comparison thread?) and does the same thing. I can't see any advantage of it being that big except it will burn through atomizers and juice a lot quicker.

Odd, but I find myself taking a hit often if only to see if my atomizer is still working as it should. Probably the result of starting off on my first e-cig with a crappy atomizer and then having to wait 1 month for a replacement. I knew atomizers gave out eventually, but not after a mere couple of weeks, so I was in no particular hurry to order more.
