Thanks for the great post...this is why, at least during the first year, we are rebating a full 5% back to our customers. Our actual expenses probably run even a bit higher than that. We want to get this started on the right foot and give our customers plenty of incentive to use it.
Dwolla is awesome!
We all need to set up Dwolla accounts. Dwolla is an end run around credit card companies and Prey Pal, currently the only way to pay for items on the internet. Credit card companies and Prey Pal rape the small mom and pop stores worldwide for whatever charges and fees they think they can get away with.
Both credit card companies and Prey Pal use their dominate position in the marketplace for political purposes. That is why you can't buy e-cig supplies using Prey Pal. Some executive at Prey Pal, thinking he is God, has decided that they won't accept transactions for anything to do with e-cigs. Credit card companies have recently raised their fees and charges to any vendors that sell e-cig supplies to outrages levels. Why did they do this you ask? Because they know they are the only game in town! That's why we need to use Dwolla! We need to vote with our pocketbooks.
Dwolla enables you to pay for purchases large and small right from your smartphone if the vendor excepts Dwolla. The cost to the vendor AND consumer is ZERO if the transaction is under 10 dollars! Currently credit card companies and Prey Pal charges to a vendor for an item for say $9.00 could be as high as $.57. That's why you see signs at a lot of places stating they won't take credit cards for purchases less that $10.00. Could you imagine owning a coffee shop and having most people pay with a credit card or Prey Pal? It could amount to hundreds of dollars a day in charges!
Purchases over $10.00 cost a flat rate of $.25! Yes that is correct and not a misprint! TWENTY-FIVE CENTS! Whether you spend $10.01 or $6,537.50 the cost is TWENTY-FIVE CENTS! (To the vendor or you have the option of paying the twenty-five cents.)
If a friend or family member has a Dwolla account you can also send them money this way. Kids at college?
Dwolla actually keeps your money in a credit union somewhere in Iowa. The way they process your payments is actually a bank to bank electronic transfer cutting out the middleman that used to be the credit card company or Prey Pal.
I am in no way affiliated with Dwolla. I do have an account though. I am just really mad at what the Big Banks and Financial Institutions have done to our country and economy! Our politicians seem to not be doing anything about it, so this is one way we can do something to stop these financial institutions from controlling our country and economy.
Good luck!
Pete
