Hmmm... maybe that could be the age test... how many terms you can identify.

I know them all, so I must be old. :(

Now the test for how far north or south you are...
:
Have you ever said "Bless his/her heart"?

Do you know the difference between a hissy fit and a conniption fit?

I'm 7 miles from the Canadian border, I go over there for a cup of coffee if I feel like it.

Never said it,, have heard it said plenty of times

Hmmmm, guess I don't know that last one.

Yes to all! However, my family threw Caldwell hissy fits, and if you were smart, you ran when they did!

Also knowing that if you hear someone say......Boy I'm fixin to tell you what...... don't ask them what?? You know nothing comes after that, because nothing needs to come after that! That said it all.

You know the difference between over yonder, down the road a piece, and a fer (far) piece. My son was born and raised in Texas, but still had issues when he'd ask how much of something to use or put in something, and I'd tell him...well... a decent amount. He's getting the hang of it now though.

All I gotta say is........no one ever made fun of me for sayin, "I ustacould" til that dang Jeff Foxworthy came along. Dadblame his hide! And I do warsh my hair, but I don't wrench it unless I'm really tarred. lol

Fixin to and usta could... yeah, use those a lot. I don't warsh or wrench tho, that's a different part of the south.

I just watched a special about the south on history channel a week or so ago. Michael Waltrip was talking about the bless his heart thing, said it was a nice way to say he's stupid.

Oh, and I use dadgumit more that dadblame it. ;)

I use dadgum and dadblame. I'm sort of a mix between the hills of Kentucky, and Texas. I used to try to tell people I don't have an accent, everyone else does, but honestly I can make Paula Deen sound like a yankee! My son make the most fun of me for Ohl (oil), and sayin onced and twiced, and bout an hour cuz it all runs together.

Bless his/her heart sorta got a bad rap. There are snooty folks that use it in a condescending way, but a lot of us don't. We really want God to bless em!

lol luvinit. It's mutual though. Everytime I hear someone say the word pop.....I look around for a balloon. Everything here is a coke. What kinda coke you want? Dr. Pepper.

And the biggest reason we say some things like we do, is because folks in Boston and other places say things like Pahk the cah (park the car) and kicked all the R's outta their states. All those little lost R's were wandering the highways with their knapsacks feeling lost lonely and abused. So, we southerners, being the hospitable folks that we are........we took em in! Then had to find places to put em, like in the middle of the words warsh, and squarsh! True story! almost.

OMG... you are SO right!!! They had to go somewhere I guess.. LOL We don't say pop here,, it's soda. And when you ask for a coke, you usually get.. is Pepsi ok? Depends where you are. One thing I can think of they say weird around here is.. keeyew (believe it or not, that's cow!) And then you got the Canadians, ay? That end everything with.. ay? Went to the store today, ay? Yeah, got some groceries, ay? It's endless!

Wow, never heard cow like that. That would be strange indeed. Just for the record, pepsi is NEVER ok!! lol I have a sort of adopted daughter that drinks it. I tell her she's the only one who's allowed to even bring that in my house, but don't push it. I tell her it tastes like sweet, flat, yankee coke. lol
