Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the community but have been vaping for 7 years. I have always used GP spheroid and it is wearing out - I'm dismayed to learn they don't make them anymore...

The top part isn't securing to where the coil and wick are anymore, so I need to find something similar to use. Please pardon my lack of appropriate terms - I use to live with someone who purchased and rebuilt it for me, but I no longer do. I figured out how to make the coil and change the wick, but I have no idea what other products I can buy that are similar to what I use, with the fishtank stuff in the top?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi and Welcome Oceans,
Where are you located?
What battery device are you using?
Do you have a budget?

Hi Izan,

Thank you!

I'm in Maine, USA - I don't know what kind of battery device I'm using. I didn't order it, but thought it all came as one product? It looks like a fat pen when everything is together (and the top stays on!) I know I use to have a fatter bottom, and now this one is a little thinner, like the width of a dime maybe and approximately 4 inches tall. It's all stainless steel. The battery I use is similar in size to a AA battery.

My budget allows me to get a good quality product, so unless it's over $300-400, I'm willing to spend for quality.

Thanks for your help!!

If you want to stay small, you may have a few options, if you are willing to get a larger, but not huge device; you have a few more options.
First, Do you know which version of the spheroid you have?
I presume if you are building the 'roid, you are using 30 or 32AWG kanthal wire?
What nicotine level are you using?

Do you have any vape shop(s) close to you?

Cheers

I don't mind going a bit larger, my biggest concern is not getting the quality I'm getting now and becoming frustrated and going back to analog - it's been 6+ years for me.

I don't know the version I have, is there a way I can tell? The screws that I attach the kanthal wire to are both the same and there is a small hole between them... Right now I'm using 28 kanthal wire because the 30 left with the person who use to maintain the spheroids... I use 12 mg.(?) nicotine at the moment, but order from Ahlusion, so I can change the level no problem.

I have a couple vape shops close to me, but I assume they sell lower end products? I imagine it's a pretty small market locally. I could be wrong though.

Thanks!
Oceans

Okay. Just a few more questions...
So you have phillips head screws and not thumb screws/nuts on threaded posts?
Are the threads on the base going bad or the ones on the body/tube?
Are the 510 threads in good shape?
I presume you would like to resurrect or replace the spheroid with something that delivers a similar throat hit, flavour and density of vapor.
Are you committed to rebuilding or would you prefer switching to drop-in coils?

Cheers

Yes, Phillips head screws.
What is going bad are the threads between the top part that contains the fishtank stuff and the part where I put the wick and coil. The middle part - where the wick and coil is, attaches to the bottom battery part just fine. It's the top part that disconnects from the wick/coil part - feels like a stripped screw...
Yes, I prefer the similar throat hit, flavour and density - but I've only ever used the spheroids, so it's what I'm used to...
I'm not committed to rebuilding (as the coil part sometimes still takes a try or two...), but will continue if it's the best option.

Thanks!

Okay... Quick fix.
The metal tube is threaded on both ends.
If you remove the top cone shaped part where the drip tip goes, you can flip the metal tube and use the threads that have not been damaged.

Unfortunately Perseas closed the VapourArt forum on 1/31/18 IIRC, and shutting down ops at VapourArt.

I used to use some of the many pieces of VapourArt GP gear I bought, still have all of it. What you describe sounds like if your mod is the same diameter as a Spheroid it might be one of the versions of GP Piccolo's... if the larger mod was 22mm a GP PAPS 2.0, 2.1 or V3... if 23mm a GP PAPS X. I have a Piccole V3.1 and 2 Spheroids, 10 of the 22mm and 23mm GP PAPS, several Heron's, SNP Tanks, a couple of custom Senio Drippers made specifically for the 22mm/23mm GP PAPS mods and endless spare parts for some of them. They are all put away as part of my vaping past with endless other gear no longer used (not for sale).

HTH you ID what you have...

Piccolo 3.1 and 3.2 versions with a Spheroid.

Oh my goodness! I didn't even realize that - I knew the tip part came off, but assumed it was just the tip itself! I'll give that a try when I'm home. I can't easily turn it - is there a special way I should attempt this?
Thanks so much!!

The bottom to mine looks just like the one on the bottom in your first picture (with the slimmer middle) with the exception of the larger spring near the battery (I think the older/fatter one I had had that kind of spring), the one I now have only has a spring near the button. So, that means I have a piccolo? And the piccolo is the battery container? And then the spheriod is the top part with the wick/coil and fishtank stuff?

One day I won't sound like an idiot, I promise!

Thanks!

Use a screwdriver, insert it in the open side of metal tube and push the top cone shape part out.

Some people use Those rubber jar openers or soak in hot water or alcohol first. Remember some threads might be Left-To-tighten, not loosen. All depends on which part you're holding.
