I'm lookin for some feedback from people about the pros/cons and "living with" a gravity fed RBA vs a genesis style RBA.

I'm eventually going to buy one of each to try em out but I'd like a little preview in the form of other peoples experiences.

For reference what I'm calling a gravity fed is one where the juice is above the coil, and calling the genesis style the ones where the juice is below the coil. Some people call the gravity fed one a vacuum fed one apparently, I'm sure both are accurate since both are happening :p

I like the idea of the gravity fed, especially since I could build one that you could use a dripper atty or put the 'well' on top and have a gravity fed version. Not as easy to do with the genesis style since you'll still have the big ol tank under it.

Thanks in advance for anything you can share :)

Gave up on gravity fed, as a pilot they all leaked with the reduced pressure climbing to altitude. Well actually they all leaked some even standing still overnight. Very hard to get an exact wick that the surface tension will always be greater than the force of gravity no matter how much juice is in the tank. I prefer the tank under, no leaks, warmer vaper, and more TH. I drip occasionally on my tank under, no problem.

poland, and the brassy lands of google
The cooler hit is only slightly cooler, and most noticeable with the first hit. Once warmed up it is fine. Vapor / TH / flavor do not suffer IMO and mine have not leaked or flooded not once, but I chose not to take one on a plane for fear of confiscation. Nor have I left one in a hot car. Only occasionally have I found that a bit of condensate has left the air inlet hole, but wipe it off fire it up and it vapes fine.

I suppose the weight of all that SS compared to the juice capacity is a bit of a minus, but what to do?

figured more people had experience with these things heh.

Have you actually used a gravity/vacuum fed RBA Roxette or was that an assumption?

Yeap, the gtank :) i actually pulled it out yesterday and vaped the whole tank, flavor IS NOT on par with "classic" genesis style, vapor was plenty and maybe with a bigger air hole it will blow more vapor than anything i have right; vapor was also cold.

I must point out that i vape at the 10watts-12watts zone, tank above 100% gives a cool vape.

If you have used a mark-t or bully atomizer in tank mode then you know what expect.

I use a sturm Gtank, Genisis LV, GTank US and a Scubagen V3. I can't tell any difference in vape temp. The V3 has the best throat hit which for me isn't a good thing but others seem to need it. The sturm and LV never leak but the GTUS does but it's my fault for being to lazy to make a thicker wick. The SGv3 leaks in spite of all my attempts to stop it but I still use it everyday. My favorite is the sturm Gtank. Just my opinion. I haven't smoked an analog in two years so I can't compare the vapor to smoke since I don't remember what smoke is like.

I think I figured out a good design for a genesis style that bypasses my primary gripe with them (refilling). Thanks for the input so far, leaking on the gravity style is what I was mostly worried about. Sounds like it's hit and miss and mostly up to the user. The less fiddly I can make something the better, I'm all about easy. (don't tell my wife I said that!)

I bought a CNC machine so I could start making my own parts for Ecigs and other projects. I'm building a 510 mod right now with DNA and integrated batteries, as soon as I get a working version of that I'm going to start the rebuildable. I've got some concept models drawn up in Inventor already so... When I get closer I'll put something up :) I should have a rough prototype of the 510 version soon though. Need my brass stock to get here from mcmaster and some new end mills.

On the G tank US I get absolutely zero leakage. It has the best flavor I have had on any genesis style. I do get some condensation, and have to wipe everything down everytime I refill it. It is a cooler vape, but only slightly cooler as you continue to vape it. With a 35mm X 35mm #325 mesh rolled tightly around a cheap paper clip and oxidized, I have no leakage. It is nearly indestructible, and I have been confident in carrying it in my pocket for the last 3 months. I also get great throat hit and flavor on a scubagen v3 modded to short mode, but I can not carry that in my pocket any further than form my kitchen to my living room.

leaks are something I've always worried about with Genesis style RBAs. I don't want to have to worry about having my mod laying on it's side. I can avoid it ever being upside down but sometimes I like to lay it in the passenger seat of my car and I don't want to have to worry about it leaking all over the place.

Yeah the GtankUS gets a lot of conensation, i one factor is that the air hole and the holes on the base are small plus most drip tips sit very close to the tank that a lot of vapor stay around (not sure if i explain it right lol english :) )
