Back in the day... The Snoop Dogg/Dr. Dre song "Gin and
juice" was quite popular among my friends. They all modded their vehicles and went to car shows. One summer we went to the 3rd largest mini truck show in the nation, it was held in a park and we all camped there.
The guys thought it was cool to drink gin and
juice and we were passing around gallon jugs of it. At the time, I not only could not hold my liquor, but I'm also allergic to most orange
juice. I earned the nickname Tanqueray that weekend and never lived it down. (The alternatives were much more unpleasant.) When it was time to get on that new-fangled contraption called America Online, I had to choose a screen name. Tanqueray was already taken, so I spelled it with a k instead. I even thought the k was a good idea so I wouldn't get sued by the Gin maker. (Hey, I was 17!)
So there it is. 15 years and no one else has ever bothered, until a kid that started playing WoW and a controversial cartoon... I guess it was a good run. Good thing is, is that I've already registered it anywhere that's important.
What's very interesting is that over the years very few people have actually associated my name with the spirit, it usually isn't until I tell them about it. Probably because the people I surround myself with nowadays are more "cultured"?
I do have quite a bit of British ancestry, maybe I can make up a new story that it's an old family surname? Does that sound plausible? I can think of quite a few examples where that's happened in the past. Yes, this is my new story...and I'm sticking to it.
So you shall all address me henceforth as Rev. Lt. Cmdr. Hoshi Sato Jolie-Pitt Tankueray CSE D.D. (That is really going to be hard to fit on a business card...)
I've got to put a lock out on my keyboard that shuts it off past my bedtime...
