YIPEE!!! Home at last
So here is the thing..... I was trying to wait for the Eclipse eq. Not gonna happen. I have the money soon for a vari volt. I need your advice on what type to get. I have seen the GLV2 and the Saber touch along with others .... they all look cool but I need reliable and not alot of waiting time on shipping. Any advice is appreciated.

On a side note we are planning to move into our new apartment on the 16th. YEA!!!!!!!! My wife,Jessica, (also known as Monica from friends) desperatly wants to host a meet in March. We will thow around dates closer to then but I just wanted to throw the idea out there. Of course kids are welcome and juices can be shared but should I make it BYOM (bring your own mod?):2cool::vapor:

Right now, the ProVari seems to be the next latest, greatest thing, but I think there's still a waiting list for it. Personally, I keep clutching my Fisty as the greatest PV invented by Canadians, but the Nuckster closed up his shop, so if you want one of them, and you're handy with a soldering iron, there's a complete walkthrough (including the shopping list) around the forum somewhere.

Other than that, I'm out of ideas - I stopped buying mods once I got my Fisty, so I'm out of touch with all the new stuff.

And, hosting a gathering in March? Hells yes! We'll be there with bells on :laugh:

SmokingRT, I was recently searching for a VV mod also.

I ended up buying the Infinity and the ProVari.

If you have the $$, I'd say go for the ProVari...slap on a map tank from COV, and you're set.

am waiting for the infinity, what do you think of it? just got a provari and am still getting used to it (and getting E4 errors!).

BTW, i would ask MLRGRL, she's a mod-maniac. And Jmichellvi seems to be very into them right now. I have the provari, and i like AND don't like it. like it because it really does give you a big bang for your vape and you can dial in perfect vaping on a variety of ohms. dislike it because of the size (big, heavy), and the fact that i'm getting hinky E4 errors on it. provape is sending me a replacement though. (their CS is excellent.) am waiting (and waiting and waiting) for my infinity. one of guys had it at the parrot. seemed great when he let me try it. both are vari-volts. i am not sure the glv2 IS a vari volt. but it sure packed a powerful punch. jmitch has one.

it took me less than 20 days to get my provari. that's a pretty fast turnaround.

I'm still waiting for both...why are you getting the E4 errors?

don't know. provape says they are going to swap it out. the manual says "contact provape" if you get them. it has something to do with the converter. no idea what that means. i'm one of the few w/this problem. most folks have no issues, so don't freak.

ok, i'm dumb. what is the point of variable WATTAGE? what does it do?

I'm still learning this end of it all, and I know, I say this a lot - but from what I understand.....

Written in it's simplest form: Ohm + volts = watts

So with that:
On the ProVari, you check your Ohms and adjust the volts and the two combined creates watts.
With the Darwin, say you discover you like 37 watts (or what ever the calculation/formual is; I just picked a number). You tell Darwin you like 37 watts, and when you put any kind of atty/carto on it, Darwin will automatically calculate the Ohms & adjust the volts to be where ever they need to be to give you 37 watts.
Sounds ubber cool, but I haven't thought it all the way through yet....
If different juices taste different at different settings, wouldn't you still be finding yourself constantly adjusting?
BUT - it is kind of a sleek, sexier design and appears lighter and at first, my face fell when I saw it....of COURSE a new toy came along days after getting my new toy!!
The biggest draw back to me, is the way the atty flips up and down. A device is only as strong as it's weakest point and for as much as I vape, I could totally see me wearing that puppy out in 3 months LOL

You just HAD to bring this up, EFW.

Ohm's Law (where)
V=volts
I=current
R= resistance
P= power or WATTS

V=IxR
I=V/R
R=V/I
P(watts)=VxI or 'I'squared x R

It seems to all come down to Voltage ie.
Your running 6 volts with a 2.0 ohm atty = 18 Watts
3.7V w 2.0 ohm = 6.85 Watts

We know what our voltage is suppose to be (the battery)
We determine the Current (I)
We (allegedly) know the resistance (with multimeter we definitely know it)
We calculate the Wattage (and doesn't everyone want the highest watts?)

While you're plugging-in the #'s I may just want to order that Darwin!

Where the "F' in EFW = Freaking (Electro-Freaking-Woman):p

ditto all that....
If you are interested in tinkering and making your own, we could find you the parts/instructions link.

Speaking of which - has Thomas got the smaller wires yet? Are there new lil fistys in the family?

So what you're saying is 37 watts is a lot? ;)

Mine fall under "e-Cig Electronics for Dumbies":facepalm:

Ok I think the Provari is the way to go for now (the darwin looked cool but I can't change the batt I don't like that). Did WHTT have the Provari at the last meet? Is that what he had his gooseneck thingy on? I would try to make my own but I am not allowed to play with soldering stuff or electrical things. One little city wide black out and you get banned for life. If anyone wants to make one for me I would be happy to buy the stuff for it. See it's all those technical terms Thingy/stuff.

At the meet, whtt's was still on order (don't know if he got his yet).
When I saw the goodneck, it was on the Inifinty. Not sure if that's the unit he kept it on all night.

Vicks is the the only one in the group that has a Fistpack, until Thomas gets his done. You could always ask him what the difficulty level of assembly it was

As for the batteries - that's a pros and con issue. Of course, the pro to the Darwin's battery is you can plug it in almost anyway - into a computer, get a USB wall wart and plug it in. The con, is you can't carry a few spare batts around with you.....

Nope - Whtt has a fisty as well (and it's a red one....the copycat). But Whtt has so many mods, he's the one who gets the mod-aholic title.

:facepalm:D'oh!
I knew that; how could I forget....... whtt is THE modwhore........... ;)
Makes the rest of us look like such pikers.....

But Vick, you do still hold the title of not only first fisty, but first red one! ;)

Hello, i'm a SUPER HERO, not a scientist. did you SEE the cape? sheesh!

I totally missed the 'cape' (and I like capes) - I was too busy looking at your Great Super Hero Boots (snake skin?). I am no scientist, but because of your 'Watts' dilemma it made me wonder (thinking hurts, so I wonder instead). To the rest of you - you can thank EW for this.............

Volts - Amp/Current - Ohm/Resistance - Watts/Power
5.4V / 2.7 / 2 / 14.58W
6V / 3 / 2 / 18W
6.6V / 3.3 / 2 / 21.78W

5.4V / 1.8 / 3 / 9.72W
6V / 2 / 3 / 12W
6.6V / 2.2 / 3 / 14.52W

3.3V / 1.65 / 2 / 5.45W
3.7V / 1.85 / 2 / 6.85W
4.1V / 2.05 / 2 / 8.4W

3.3V / 1.1 / 3 / 3.6W
3.7V / 1.23 / 3 / 4.55W
4.1V / 1.37 / 3 / 5.6W

Voltage is what matters. The higher the volts the higher the amps/current.
The example above shows 3 and 6 v batteries at various stages of charge/performance using 2 or 3 ohm attys.
As you can see there is quite a difference depending on battery state of charge as well as atty type used.
For example: a freshly charged battery putting out 6.6v w 2ohm atty puts out 50% more power than a battery working at 5.4v 21.78watts vs 14.58. Also, the type/size atty used makes a formidable difference. A 2ohm atty at 3.7v = 6.85w vs a 3ohm atty also using 3.7v = only 4.55watts.

I'm sold on adjustable voltage devices!:vapor:
