Howdy!

After several weeks of reading and absorbing suggestions, I thought I'd finally get around to introducing myself. I've actually never been a huge cigarette/cigar smoker, but have been a hookah smoker for the better part of a decade. Where I live now, I can't smoke indoors or on the balcony, so I got into vaping both to satisfy the cravings, and to eventually wean myself off of nic entirely. I started with a cig lookalike, but quickly switched to a KGO V2 with a Kanger T3, because I needed something to more closely mimic the thickness of hookah smoke. That was great for about two months, but now I feel like I want something even thicker - something to really "flood the room," so to speak. I tried dripping, but found that it just isn't for me, since I vape for hours at a time. It's not uncommon for me to drain 75% of the Kanger in one sitting, so I have a few on reserve, to keep the juice flowing.

So, I'm not really sure where to go from here. I love my KGO when it's fully charged, but by the time it gets much below 70%, the vapor gets noticeably cooler and thinner, and I prefer more heat (think three or four coals on your hookah). I'm still a bit overwhelmed by some of the options out there, but with my birthday coming up, am interested in gifting myself a new toy or two. Thoughts?

I think the nic is starting to really get to my head, so I'll end here. Thanks for the thoughts, and I look forward to becoming more active here on the forum!

Also, for what it's worth, my city (Louisville, KY) has a smoke-free ordinance. I had some very respectful meetings with the health department (which is in charge of administering the ordinance), and two decisions were made; first, that electronic cigarettes are exempt from the ordinance, and second, that their usage within businesses is to be regulated by the business owners.

Just wait. Others will be along shortly. You need an APV, and a big one that holds 18650 batteries. As you first APV, about 50 people will tell you to get a Vamo from Fasttech. Get the kit. Get stainless. Most like the V2. I prefer the V3 a wee bit more.

Now, with that out of the way, if your budget is more like $100, you have a lot more options. But, you may decide on the Vamo and then several cloud-makers. Your Kgo goes to six volts, so you're already getting a lot of power, but not a lot of battery life. If your issue is battery life, then Vamo solves your problem. I get a great vape out of cartomizers and tanks. While cartos predate the clearos, in today's wacky world, they're kinda a step up in many situations. Beyond that are atomizers, atomizer tanks, etc. Probably too soon for those. I'm still pretty happy with my Kanger clearos and my boge cartos, though I sometimes pull out an atomizer, particularly to sample juices,. Be patient, thanks for posting, congrats on getting here, good luck, happy shopping and Vape On!

Interesting that you bring this subject up. I had been a 1 ppd smoker before quitting by using cigalikes initially 14 months ago. Within about 3 weeks, I realized that the cigalikes weren't going to cut it for me, so I purchased my first mods, or advanced personal vaporizers (APVs). This allowed me to have more power and vaping time with larger replaceable rechargeable batteries, and allowed me to use larger juice delivery devices such as cartotanks. Below are pics of my first two APVs with glass cartotanks on top.

Although I got better vapor production, longer battery time between charges, and larger capacity juice devices to last me longer between refills, I still experienced a gradual drop off in vapor because of the dwindling battery power of these "mechanical" APVs.

What I needed next are called "regulated" APVs. These battery devices use computer chips to keep the vapor strong for the entire duration of the battery's life. They also have a boost circuit which allows variable voltage, which means you can adjust the heat of the heating coil in the juice device to suit the particular flavor that you are vaping.

For instance, my fruit flavors are best at 3.4 - 3.8 volts. My coffee flavors are best between 4.0 and 4.5 volts. And a cinnamon flavor is best at 4.8 volts. This voltage adjustment can be done on-the-fly with the press of a button.

My favorite APV for this application is the Provari. It's not cheap, but it's arguably the best at what it does. USA made. One year warranty, and even after warranty expiration, the manufacturer will continue to service it at user cost for reasonable fees.

I'm certain that people will recommend a Vamo, Evic, or ZMax. They are all fine APVs, but they differ from the Provari in one way. They are all manufactured in China. After their short warranty expires, and should they need repair, you are out of luck. China does not do repairs. Just something to consider...

After 14 months being smoke-free, my daughter, her boyfriend, and my son decided to treat me to my first hookah bar on Father's Day. I have to admit I noticed similarities between it and my APVs.

Any further questions feel free to ask.
