Hello,
I smoke my first stinky at about 12 y.o., have 46 now, and began vaping about the beginning of May, 2014. But only to gave it a try (Ha!). Never inhaled willingly the smoke of a combustion cigarette after that, and without any effort whatsoever. I was, and am, quite surprised as that was not cold turkey, not even deep-frozen turkey - more like frozen-in-liquid-Helium turkey.
My first gear was the usual (around here) double CE4 with 650mAh eGo batteries starter kit, and some bottles of Valeo tobacco-flavored juice. After a short time, I found a pretty reasonable B&M downtown, and bought a Vamo V5 kit, a Kanger Aerotank, 3 different clearomizers. Front desk staff put me out of buying a Kayfun clone, as they saw I did not have experience building coils, and the prebuilt setup in that Kayfun clone had a resistance lower than the Vamo was able to fire. And I am very thankful for that.
Why the Vamo? It's cheap, and it's a VW mod. I did not want unregulated (and unprotected - I knew about that tendency of Li batteries to go up in flames at the minor provocation) mods, and thought to control the Watt amount was a more easy way to control the vaping process than controlling the Volt amount. Did not want to be calculating the square of V and dividing by R to know at how much Watts I was vaping. I mean, in the Aerotank, one has got a fixed geometry of the vaporizing chamber, with coils and wicks. But R could differ between coils, so power is a more general way to adjust the vaping experience across several R values. Reason why I did not went Provari, for instance.
Bit later, I found one pretty good Spanish forum, vapeando.com, and learnt more things, especially about online Spanish stores, and the main youtube reviewers, like Busardo and Ruades (in Spanish). One of my first online buys was a Efest LUC 2-bay charger, as I was a bit concerned about the no-name charger that came with the Vamo kit, and used to check regularly the voltage of charging batteries in order to avoid overcharging. Also bought a Stillare clone RDA, and began making coils, but could not find a good setup. The Aerotank was working pretty good, so the Stillare went to the shelf.
Fast forward a little, the Vamo stopped working, I went back to vaping with eGo batteries for a while, and got a bit disconnected of the vaping community, until one day, a Busardo review of the new Provari P3 appeared in my inbox. Wow! Back to see what I did miss, found another review of the Subtank, and well, I am now using a P3-fired subtank as my preferred vaping gear. Unfortunately, the P3 has not many fans in the Spanish forum (low powered, expensive...), but found that there is a quite live Provari community here.
And here I am.
Regards,
Jose
