Hello there. I recently started vaping. I bought a MVP V2 on September 19th. My wife bought an itaste CLK on September 20th, and neither of us have smoked since. I have enjoyed it, although I have become a VERY heavy vaper. In fact my MVP would not last me an entire day.

I recently purchased a VAMO V5, and have been enjoying it. I like that I can just switch out the batteries as one 18650 will not last me the full day. I have been having issues with burning my ejuice inside my iClear 30's and going thru coils, but i figure that is due to my heavy use.

I have dabbled a bit in DIY juice, which is par for the course for me as I reload my own ammo, make furniture, just really a hands-on type of guy.

The important thing is tomorrow marks two months of not smoking.

Welcome and congratulations, Frank Castle! :) I too started with an MVP but it was V1 over 15 mos. ago. Was a 53 yr., 2+ pack a day smoker, but it all stopped with one day of vaping on that MVP! Surprised the heck out of me and all those who knew me.

Yes, "chain vaping" which I also do can drain your batteries pretty quickly. Burnt taste can come from too high voltage/wattage or a dry wick OR your coils are gunked up and ready to be cleaned. I've been using ProTank 2's and Davides that I rebuild with 30 Kanthal and cellu cotton; or if I want to be lazy, I use the Nautilus's with the BVC coils. :D

You definitely are ahead of me in the DIY juice. Hesitant to tackle that and I do like my local B&Ms' juices. :p

However, the important thing is that you hit the 2 mo. mark of not smoking! :w00t: THAT'S a biggie and one to be proud of.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations to you and your wife!

Many of us find that we vape more than we smoke, but there are different reasons for that: nicotine is absorbed differently when vaping vs smoking; there are other things in cigarettes we were addicted to besides nicotine that our bodies are still craving; because there is no specific "end" (like finishing a cigarette), so you just kind of absentmindedly vape; because quitting smoking is stressful and vaping is soothing; because it's yummy...etc. :)

An 18650 won't last most people a whole day, especially when using VV/VW. Vaping low resistance coils will also use up batteries faster. Hint: The holiday sales are coming up - buy batteries. You can never have too many batteries. And don't forget to add battery cases to your order.

Another hint: Be gentle with the Vamo. Despite the upgraded versions, they still tend to have easily stripped 510 connectors and the little gasket/O-ring thingy around the 510 pin sometimes falls apart. Just be careful not to screw anything onto to it too tightly.

Yeah, I admit that I have harvested some 18650's from an old laptop battery I had. I know it is controversial, but I tested them, and the numbers on them come back to some pretty decent Sanyos. I have no complaints as they last longer than my Efest 2000 mah's. Besides, it is good to get familiar with them as my daughter wants to build an electric go-kart, and I am figuring 18650's would be a good power source.

Battery cases?

I have noticed the threads on the VAMO are not that good. I figure it will be the downfall of the unit, but maybe I can replace the 510 when the time comes. If not I will use the guts of the device for something else.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Welcome aboard
The Iclear 30 is a top wick tank that has the wick enclosed in a tube. If the wicks are allowed to dry out you will get burnt vapes. Tilting the tank horizontally can allow the wicks to better saturate.

I think you might be thinking of the iclear 30s. It has the wicks enclosed in what looks like a carto whereas the iclear 30 has them open. Still, I have gotten to where I tilt/rotate without thinking about it. LOL

Battery cases - the little plastic boxes that keep extra batteries away from keys and such when you carry them with you.

There are several threads down in the VV/VW sub-forum of the APV section about stripped Vamos. As far as I know, replacing the 510 connector hasn't been successful. One thing you can use is an Ego to 510 adaptor. They can be a little hard to find in stock (again that's Ego to 510, not 510 to Ego - which are common).

EGO to EGO 510 Atomizer Adapter : L Js E-Smokes, Electronic Cigarettes Out of stock as usual, but this is what they look like. It's Ego threaded to 510 threaded, I guess they just call it "Ego to Ego 510" to continue the vaping tradition of making things more confusing than they need to be.

Welcome aboard and congratulations. 2 months is a big deal. Happy for you both. As for VW Mods I really like my V6. Not much different that the V5 other than I can sub-ohm to 0.5 and have 5 extra watts (that I rarely use). I went with the Vamo because I am a chain vaper and I like being able to change batts and keep on vaping. Good luck to you and the wife.
