Growing tired of automatic glitches

So, for my starter kit, I got a

Kanger 808D-1. It came with automatic batteries and at this point (owned the whole kit for about 2.5 weeks) I'm beyond annoyed. The batteries have an annoying habit of not turning off, thus I get to hear my juice cooking without me enjoying it. It takes a good hard blow in the opposite direction to get them to turn off. I've already swapped out one of them with the vendor because of this. I can see I'm going to have to email him again tomorrow and discuss this again. Admiitedly, here soon it will all be moot as I've pretty much decided on getting a GLV-2, but that will take some time. I'm seriously considering just writing of the cost of the 808 kit (Which technically isn't a write off, since I'm still ahead on spending compared to traditional smokes) and getting a manual 510 kit. I have a feeling if I had read a little more before buying I would have gone 510 anyways, since it does appear there are more accessories for them, and the GLV-2 will be 510 threaded.

I have always been a VV batt user, but I have a few KGO's that I play with also.
My latest batt is chrome/ss lavatube, which will make #3 as I have the V1 & V1 mini that is getting a 808 connector soldered when I get time.
I like dialing to the sweet spot of each juice
The next batt I get will be a ProVari.

I've looked at both the Lavatube and ProVari ... both do look nice, but something about the GLV-2 speaks to me.

But in the interim, I think I'm going to drive into Orlando proper once I get some sleep and see what ESmokerOnline has in stock. I'm almost out of High Caliber Cherry anyways, and they stock it, so 2 birds, one stone

I just need to keep an eye on my overall spending. Part of my motivation to switch from traditional smokes over to vaping is the potential monthly savings ... which go a long way in today's economy. :\

Is this automatic the one with the hole in the center of battery post (unsealed)? If it is then probably your auto switch stuck because some juice seeping in. It happened to me once, I overfill a carto and the juice get into the hole... disaster follow

510, 808... it's just a thread. Using adapter is one way to go.

Auto batteries seem like a good design, but the problems surmount the convenience. Almost no one here uses autos once they try them. Most decide to change to a push button design. Some of the autos cut off after 5 seconds anyway. You can't do a primer puff very well.

Push button batteries generally give you 10 to 15 seconds before cutoff and using the push button becomes natural in about 15 minutes after first using them. From that point, it just feels natural. Any ecig with a big enough battery to offer long battery charge life is too heavy to hold in your mouth like a cigarette, anyway.

Once you compare the benefits of manual batteries, they make a lot of sense.

I'm sorry but I beg the differ, I still use auto daily either a small KR8 or the bigger Echo (+ Kuwako head which is kinda ridiculous and hard to use if you use it with manual batt). I own two APV with button (obviously, no 'auto' APV yet) but I still use auto for daily use for the convenience reason too.

Primer puff is not even an issue with the latest auto battery, you don't even need to do primer puff now.

I found current auto (KR8 gen2 especially - sealed battery post) is powerful, convenient and usable enough compare to eGo manual style battery. It's 3.6/3.7V regulated (better than regulated eGo) and if you need longer battery life try Echo, it's automatic, same size (bit shorter) than eGo and vape like a champion.

So yeah, I think "Almost no one here uses autos once they try them" is a bit... overstatement

I use 808 autos as my all day. When I first got them I had one battery do what you described. Took out my first carto using a pre filled from the vendor. They replaced it and told me it was usually juice getting in it causing the switch to hang up. That wasn't the case so it must have been a defective switch. They make manuals in 808 as well. I also bought a Lava Tube last week. It lasted half a day. It was sitting on the dining room table and came on totally unmolested about an hour after I left it. My wife saw the led flashing and called me. By the time I got the battery out it had melted an suspicous looking leaf pattern in the carto lol. The battery in it wouldn't charge back up in over 4 hours. Put another battery in it and was showing it to my son when it started doing the same thing. That time I was holding it and managed to get the battery out in time to save the carto. Sent it back next day. I wish they made it in 808. Sounds like Skelly has the answer but I don't think I'll be doing that any time soon.

I have to beg to differ as well. Version 2 and beyond have come for the autos and they have less issues for me than manuals. All of my manual batteries eventually develop sticky buttons. Check out SI's volt....Bloog and Elite Vaporworks.

What Clove said is pretty much what is happening. You may be getting juice in the center post. Sounds like you actually just have a cheap battery. There is a lot of garbage out there, most of it being sold by vendors who also charge way more than you should ever pay.

The echo batteries are big....up to 1300mah and are very comfortable to hold in the mouth. they are lighter than manual batteries and very responsive. No primer puff needed, unless that's how you chose to vape. Personally, I have develpoed a certain puff....puff...puff style of vaping that is like puffing on a fine cigar or a pipe. This style of vaping is not practical with a manual. I've had leaky accidents with them and had entire clearos come loose in my pocket spilling up to a ml of juice and simply cleaned them off and continued on with no damage to the battery.

Don't get me wrong....manuals have a place in my vaping hobby as well. I just don't enjoy them as much as autos.

We are out there.... a lot of us. We're just more content. We're as eager to help as the rest but we usually only pipe up when folks resort to mistruths and outdated info.

Well, I went to the local physical ecig store in town and got an ego-c. Loving it so far. I'm sure I will keep the 808 batteries around as just in case (or to let friends use to try out), but that's about it.

Congrats you lucky horsehead....lol.
I almost ordered one as my very first PV. I had the cart loaded and I was almost done with checkout then I backed out.....kick myself everyday. So, it will be my next VVPV without a doubt.
