I've been vaping for about two months and decided to look at rebuilding instead of replacing the bottom coil assemblies.

After I disassembled a coil I noticed that the insulator had a groove in it where the wire ran through it. Has anyone re-used these? Have you had any problems? Leaking? Poor electrical connection?

The resistance wire and wick are readily available online. I don't see a source for the rubber insulating grommets.

The first picture is the insulator showing the groove. Second is the coil. After two weeks of use it has a lot of carbon on it.

These looks like any BCC coils (variation of Protank, PT2, EVOD's and such). And it should interchange well with replacement coils on those.

I use RS200 (which looks just like yours by the way). And they are the same as all of the above. The rebuilt coil process is the same also.

So you can watch videos on Utube on protank and evods on how.

Insulators, Yes. They SHOULD fit if you bought replacement for protank's But I would not bother and just reuse them as it is.

It would not matter if the rubber pieces has a grove (really not a grove). It's just impression from the pressure against the wire.

Just reuse it, no worry there.

I use 30G kanthal with cotton balls.

Works great!!

Good luck and cheers

Re-use till they burn from dry-burning too long. Soak in hot water to freshen and let cool before assembly. I've lined the groove up with wire after applying tension, without disrupting coil position. And I find it still holds the wire sufficiently, but it really doesn't matter. The rotation each time is a great idea. Only problem I had was squashing them early on by screwing tank on too tight....

I have reused the insulator many times. Try spinning the insulator 180 to place the groves opposite and rotate at each rebuild.

No problems so far.

Thanks Sthur!

I never considered rebuilding until I read the new FDA regulations for E-Cigs. The parts are cheap and readily available now. I'm worried about getting E-Cig parts after the new FDA rules go into effect. Coils & wicks no problem. Insulators can be re-used. Good so far! Generic, multiple use parts like resistance wire and wick can't be covered by FDA regs.

My big worry is the E-juice. My last purchase of juice cost me $22 for six ounces of juice. I have no local suppliers for juice. Only a few smoke shops that sell pre-filled cartridges. If I can't get juice on the internet the cost is going to go way up if I can even find a supplier.

Now I'm reading up on how long I can keep juice fresh. In the freezer with glass bottles looks best so far. I'll buy as much as I can use before it goes bad. Possibly by then I'll be free of my nicotine addiction and won't need to vape. Or, maybe the E-Cig industry will have adjusted to the new regulations to the point that I can get cheap juice locally. With the common 18 year old age restriction for tobacco products I'll probably never see E-cigs or juice for sale on the internet after the rules go into effect. It's hard to verify someone's age on the internet.
