gunk in the coil

was having trouble with one of my nova tanks. couldnt get a good vape, ie, little steam and i had to increase voltages to get steam production. i've been rotating the tank for about 3 weeks. when i switch juices i wash it out well, i dont dry burn it however.


when i took the old coil/wick out it was black with gunk. no wonder i couldn't get vapes from it!! put the new coil in and unit was like new; good flavor from juices.


dont you think its a good idea to switch out old coils after a few weeks?

no body told me about this; the advice i got was when the coil burns out, switch it. not great advice.

You can soak them in cheap vodka or vinegar then wash thoroughly to clean the gunk off.

Also save the heads as you may want to rewick them later on. IMO they are way better once rewicked.

I change em when the flavor takes a dip. Or once a week.

I switch mine out as they get gunk on them anywhere from a week to 2 weeks usually depending on the juice I have been using. Soaking them works and I save for re-wicking. In a pinch I will dry burn them

I dryburn my heads every 2 tankfuls and they last a month or two. The wicks degrade first then I just rebuild them.

You can clean your coils periodically and extend their life however I would not recommend using vinegar as it causes corrosion on metals.

I've always rinsed with hot water, dry burn and then a another rinse and let dry. Never thought to just re-wick them. Thanks for the tips
