i had a situation like this at work. i had the HR guy show me the smoking policy, we talked over it and he said i couldnt vape. then after i pointed out the dip under his lip, and under the lips of the 4 other managers on the floor he backed down. i cant vape, they cant chew, and i was willing to go as high as i had to go on the corporate ladder to get my point across.

You know it could be that the HR guy is just speaking up for a ...... off co-worker that doesn't think it's fair that you vape at your desk. Maybe your vaping makes Joe the 2 PAD guy start jonesing for a cig, so he keeps taking breaks. Who knows? The point is the HR guy said not to. You don't own the company. I can vape in my living room all day long, but I refuse to do so in front of my kid. I'd been hooked on analogs too long to ever want my kid to think sucking on a smokey thing is cool. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Go to the smoking area like everyone else. Or vape under your desk where no one can see you. But the latter is still against the rules.

I came to realize this, in terms of vaping at the job---unless you're dealing with other vapers, most people have no idea about the difference between "vaping" and "smoking". I don't even want to take the time to try and educate those who don't smoke--most of them think of it as a "fad", and quite honestly, they're the major pains and not worth my time. I take my "vape" breaks like I used to take my "smoke" breaks. HR at my job knows to stay out of my business--besides, it's hard to screw with IT, especially when we can cut off your Internet access for a few days..lol

Here is what I think about this...

I 100% agree it is safe to do around others and it would be nice to do wherever and whenever I want. But, I'm not about to tick off anyone and create negative feelings towards vaping. I dont want this delivery device to get the same wrap as smoking. I dont vape in non smoking areas...not in stores, work or when I go out to eat. I do vape in public and would welcome curious people to ask about it. I just want it viewed as a positive thing and try to respect others as not alot of people know about ecigs n vaping. It might be scary to some. You can smell some of my juices, it could be offensive to sensitive people. We followed a thousand rules when we smoked, its really not hard to continue to be curtious. Keep vaping and be proud!

I meant to say...A lot of people DONT know about vaping...

I agree with the statements made about following the rules, and i dont argue with them, and just to clarify im not trying to push the issue of "im allowed to because it is not illegal" Im pushing the issue of the actual "smoking" writeup, im not one to walk into a home or business and just start vaping away cause its "safe"

i really suck at conveying things properly over writing so i appologize if it seemed otherwise.

For me the issue is, for him to have written me up and sent it in to the corperate office that i was "smoking" indoors. Now im getting e-mails from corperate stating how my actions are against the law, and that i can be subject to criminal charges, and damage of private property, and so on. I wasnt breaking any laws, i wasnt "smoking" in my office.

After recieving the e-mail i spoke with the HR manager at the corperate office and explained the circumstances and she was very understanding
I told her i had permission from the previous manager, and that until recently there was no issues with using my e-cig. she kindly removed the record of the write up afterwards. So at least the issue resolved for now

I'll just have to get used to having to take breaks again, instead of a quick puff here and there. Its no skin off my back, im still getting paid if im standing outside :D

Although not a perfect ending at least the infraction was removed from your record. My hat's off to you for resolving this issue and thanks very much for the update.
Happy Vaping, Vapoor.

You're printed words and explanation is very understandable so no apologies needed.
