Been a smoker for 30 plus years and started vaping for 6 months now. I went the usual route starting with disposables, then to 808s with carts. Now using a eGo twist and have bought different carts, tanks, clearomizers, and now atomizers. E-juice is endless! I'm even now playing with DIY mixtures.
So, spending more time on this forum, spending way more money on hardware and juices than analog cigs, and starting to vape more often than I did with cigarettes.
I dont really have the nicotine craving anymore ( I vape with 12mg now). But looking at all the new hardware, new juices, etc makes me want to try them all.
Psychosis maybe?

Oh, boy. What'd I get myself into with this vaping stuff?!? I was hoping to save some $ on a bad habit while quitting analogues, not spend more on a new hobby lol. But, here I sit waiting for my new kit and I'm already looking at all the batteries and clearo-things, and all the other stuff I keep reading about. I'll bet I'm in your shoes soon too.

BTW, doesn't sound like psychosis, just more like an accidental hobby

How much you save is really going to be up to you. Yes getting set up can be costly as you find a set up that works for you. However once you get something that works and you are happy with, the rest is just fluff.

Some here budget what they would have spend on cigs and will spend that on vaping, while others don't have to worry one way or another because they just don't have the cash anyways, then you have your group that can afford all the toys and go hog wild. The last group doesn't save any money but hey they got it so why not.

If like me you are in that group that doesn't have it to start with, get a good reliable APV, and learn how to DIY, other wise, just go with it and have fun.

A pack a day smoker at $8.32 per day would have to spend a little over $58.00 per week to be spending more on eCigs and eJuice.

Yes the initial buy in may seem like you are spending more but as time goes on you will be saving money when you find what works for you. Now if you start buying all kinds of MODS and other toys..... well at least your having fun.

I dont know how much cigarettes cost where you live, But they are 10 dollars a pack here in New York.Believe me in the long run you will end up saving some money.

That is a major factor in if you will save money right there. Where I live in MO I can still get 3 packs of the cheapies for $7.50, or a carton for $22.

I think it largely depends on the individual. I could see how one could get into all of the mods and various batteries, cartos, atomizers, etc. I don't know if I'll ever get to that point or not...but yeah, I think at that point it becomes more of a hobby (as well as habit).

Right now I'm just trying to stay off the analogs and vaping really helps. At this point, I'm not overly concerned as to whether I'm saving any money or not...I'll probably end up breaking even or saving just a little $$ as I used to get my cartons of analogs on the reservation for around $25.00. Perhaps my mind set will change and I'll want more out of my vaping and I'll get into various mods and what not, but for now, I'm pretty happy with my eGO DCT as my little crutch.

Vaping is a bit more than a habit. Like smoking, it's an addiction.

I found a mod early on that did everything I needed to quit smoking entirely. I've stuck with that mod (and backups) for 11 months now. I'm perfectly happy with the vaping gear I have and feel no need to try anything else. No desire to go experimenting with anything that may or may not work better, look better or do things in a different and higher tech way.

This kind of conservative attitude toward vaping has saved me a lot of money. My vaping expense is about 20% of what I used to spend on smoking those stupid Camels. I charge up batteries once every weekend, buy new cartos every three or four months and make up a batch of DIY juice every other month or so.

I have plenty of hobbies to spend money on. Vaping as a hobby just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe that's because I never considered smoking to be a hobby, unless cleaning up after ashes and cigarette butts and making a trip down to the gas station for a carton of Camels is a hobby.

what Robin said, I`m in Ny as well and was spending upwards of 600 bucks a month on stinkies, I`m also starting out and sometimes feel a bit guilty when I drop 60-80 bux somewhere buying juice or batts (I use 808 stuff for now, I like it and it works for me), then I remeber all the $$$ I HAVENT spent on cigs and I don`t feel so bad at all, lol.

If I still end up spending the same as cigarettes, I'm ok with that. The health benefit totally outweighs everything else. This is first time I've quit smoking (6 days now) and have had almost zero problems. Every once in a while, my brain says "Oh, dude, you totally need a smoke after that (meal, coffee, beer)!" And I just respond, "Nah, I'll just have a vape."

Yeah, I've thought about all that too. I started the same way and now Im having to curtail my spending. I originally went from clearomizers to tank systems and got tired of spending money after a few days when they wear out and discovered the genesis attys. Now I'm having to exercise restraint not to buy too many of them...... their all so cool

I have actually found a great setup for myself at this point. A Twist with the Nova Mini works for me. I have saved over $200 so far, taking into account the cost of my setup and juices. Savings will really depend on if you decide to move into the more expensive mods. For now, I am happy where I am and see no need to spend more $ on new PVs.

My focus was stopping the stinkes and I did that. I have saved quit a bit of $ and possibly my own life. How much is that worth?
