even being very cheap, ecigs ended up costing me more in the beginning. after about 1.5 months i was at break even, now im ahead and that's not even counting the fact that im now paying for my gf to vape. considering the health benefits and the fact that im not nearly as addicted to vaping as i was smoking, i think its a net positive. i would say spend a lil more in the beginning then after that spend equal to or less than what you would spend on cigs and worst case you'll break even.

I spent a lot of time and money buying and selling here and going through PVs like gangbusters. It's slowed down a lot but it was kind of an obsession for me for a while. For me, I think it gave me something to focus on rather than cigarettes. Over the course of a year, I think I probably spent about what I would have spent smoking. Now that I'm for the most part settled on my vape toys; juice and supply costs are really minimal. IMHO the health benefit outweighs what I spent, and most of the PVs I purchased I was able to resell without losing too much $$. It's been a fun way to quit smoking rather than painful and got to meet a lot of wonderful people here.

For me, switching to vaping was never about the money I would save, it was about being able to breath properly again and not feel like I was going to pass out every time I cycled up a steep hill... 2 months in and feeling better everyday. A side effect I never thought was going to happen was becoming obsessed with all the gadgets and hardware involved. Oh well, you can never have too many hobbies!

I'd say it's more of a hobby for me. I've only smoked analogues a handful of times in my life but I took up vaping because I enjoy the taste , the throat hit, and the slight buzz. I don't feel very addicted to the nicotine either. I usually don't bring my PV with me to work but I do vape a lot when I'm home. I just went 3 weeks without vaping because I was out of juice and it didn't really bother me at all, I never had a nic fit and I wasn't fiending for it at all, I just missed it because I enjoy doing it.

I'm about three weeks in and I can definitely see this turning into a hobby. I got way into cigar and pipe paraphernalia and accessories when I was smoking those and ended up spending quite a bit on gadgets. Vaping is going to be one of those things, for sure. I started with an eGo style kit and a clearo, picked up some tanks and cartos in the first week and have now just ordered my first ProVari. I was down to about 10 cigs per day when I quit, so I don't know if I'll ever break even. If you put a price on how bad my office and car used to smell, I've gained already though.

Being in so California with all it's restrictions had regulated my smoking. Even at home when I would smoke in my backyard, I would hear the neighbor closing their window so they wouldnt get the smell. I couldnt really enjoy smoking a cig without having the fear of offending somebody nearby. Now I can vape away with no worries.

I have only been doing this for a couple months now. I can definiely say that I have spent more on vaping than I did while I was smoking. Thats ok with me (not sure that my wife feels the same:p) because it wasnt about saving money for me. It was about being healthier and not making my wife so mad by smelling like stinkies all the time. I have already concluded that this will definitely become a hobby and probably an expensive hobby at that. Only 9 weeks or so into it and have already gone through a Blu starter kit, an Inferno tube tank kit and onto my Provari Mini with ZAP and currently looking for my next mod. I don't really think that you can put a price on the health benefits, so looking at it like that, I think I am still ahead of the game. Happy vaping!

I'm only about 3 months in and I started vaping with the sole purpose of quitting the analogs. I think I've finally kicked them for good and I'm slowing moving down in nicotine level. I currently vape at 18mg and I think my next juice order will probably be 12mg with the goal being near zero.

Vaping is definitely turning into a hobby. I started with a Blu, then quickly went to Rivas, then to Ego twists and now to a Zmax, all in about 3 months. Hoping I can slow down on the mods now. I've been spending quite a bit more than I did on analogs, but I consider it well worth it...

I have been analog free for 21 months. At first, I was saving money by vaping instead of smoking... but then I discovered the great big world of mods ^_~ Now I probably break even between my analog spending and my new vaping hobby, but I have at long last found the perfect set up and am back to saving money once again. As many others have said on this thread, it's never really about the money but about the health benefits, smelling good and I have to rave about my newly found taste buds.
