Ive read a few studies related to nicotine and its apparent ability to reduce or even reverse the effects of Alzheimers disease. It seems that nicotine facilitates memory formation by stimulating synaptic activity in areas of the brain associated with memory formation and specifically in areas associated with pleasurable memories. To break it down even further, nicotine makes you think whatever you are doing at the time is a Good Thing.
The tests results indicated that subject awareness had little if any placebo effect on the outcome. They were able to convince rats to prefer areas with temperatures they would otherwise avoid (heat and cold) if they could obtain nicotine there ONLY IF THEY WERE INTRODUCED TO NICOTINE IN THAT ENVIRONMENT. Here is the important part: pre-addicted control rats could only be convinced to prefer the uncomfortable areas if they were first deprived of nicotine for a few days, then reintroduced in the uncomfortable environments, otherwise, they would only venture into them to obtain nicotine and then try to leave as soon as they were satisfied. The subject groups would stay put, even if nicotine were not available in the uncomfortable areas (brand loyalty anybody?)
So, it may be advantageous for those wishing to switch to vapeing, to quit smoking for a few days before picking up a PV. That is exactly what I did after over three decades of pack-a-day smoking and I now consider vaping to be so much more pleasurable, that I would only return to smoking if I did not have my PV, and maybe, not even then.
