I've read plenty of stories where people smoked and vaped at 1st....then forgot to smoke. lol.

There IS a withdrawal period from cigs even while vaping. For some it's minor and hardly noticeable...for others like us...we notice it more. The good news is that it lessens with time. Also, once you give up the stinkies completely it will go away.

Once I quit "paralleling"...I think the withdrawal lasted about 2 weeks. I "toughed it out" knowing there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I even had the "minor cold-like symptoms" and headaches and restless sleep for a bit. You have to "detox" a bit. Cutting back gradually may even help. But you have to get yourself to that point 1st. So don't beat yourself up about it. And don't get put off by all the "I quit on day one" stories. Good for them, but you don't have to do it that way.

Also, check that your hardware is performing well and that you're getting the effect of that 24 mg juice. Just because the juice is 24 mg doesn't mean the device is delivering it well.

Good Luck! Don't quit quitting!

I let myself smoke as much as i wanted when i first started vaping a month ago or so. Was usually 15-20 cigs a day, and after i started vaping it was around 3 a day. Then 1 a day. Then i just stopped wanting them altogether. Be patient, don't beat yourself up. You're doing great and you're making great lifestyle improvements. These things take patience and understanding. You know that you're improving and that cigs are a much worse alternative to vaping. That alone is power. More power to you.

I went this route too. Don't beat yourself up over it. Do what you need to do. It can be instantaneous or gradual, but you will get there!

Daddysirc, I just worry that it is going to be like the prior attempts where I thought "oh I'll just have this one" and before you know I am back at 1-1.5 PAD. I so wish I had never started. I am a "worrywart", it is just part of who I am. I want to be one of those people who just picked up their pv and were done.

Sounds like you might be putting too much pressure on yourself and that makes you tense and then you want a cigarette. So what if you can't quit smoking as fast or as easily as some others have?

If you smoked 3 cigs instead of 20, that means you have avoided 17. That is GOOD. Give yourself a break.

I believe some vendors sell 36mg nic liquid. Could you get some of that and use it only for those times when you have a really strong craving? Good luck and don't give up.

Everyone is different. It took me about a week of both vaping and cigarettes both before I lost the taste for cigs. Some people take less time, some more. I lucked out and got some really tasty good juices on my first try, and the taste is way more appealing to me now than a cigarette. I still have 3 full packs of cigarettes in my drawer and am just not interested. I am going to give them to my neighbor who's been having financial woes lately. Don't beat yourself up, 3 cigs beats 20 any time.

Set goals... pretty soon you'll be rewarding yourself with e-cigarette gear from the money you've saved on analogs.

Just don't go fully back to analogs, do both for some time. I went back (stupidly) for a week. They tasted like garbage, then all of a sudden I started liking them again. Back on vaping today, and let me tell you, it's more difficult the second time around once you stop smoking cigarettes completely. Keep at it.

As everyone else has said, don't worry too much about it. I was a pack and 1/2 smoker for 27 or so years. Switched to vaping in December, and for the first week or two, would probably have 10 - 12 analogs throughout the day. It dropped to 3-5 the next week, to nothing the week after. I will occassionaly have an analog now, but will generally put it out before finishing it. That happens once every few days. I figure, within the next week or so, I won't even be reaching for those ones. As every has said, just think about the fact you avoided the 17 or so others you would normally have smoked. Keep it up!!

I can't thank y'all enough for all this support. I think that the way for me to go is to set small goals rather than trying to do it all at once like I have been. I do tend to beat myself and that does it make it worse. So here's to a new day :toast:

Forget the goals. Just try to vape as much as you can. Get some lower nic (6-12 mg) if you need to chainvape. Keep your hands and your mouth busy. Every time you feel like smoking, grab your e-cig first and play with it. Get used to handling it so it becomes familiar. Find the juice you like--that's very important. Read the juice review section. Order small samples, though; when it comes to eliquids, one man's daily miracle vape is another's poison. :) Take your time and enjoy the ride.

This is not a 12-step program. This is supposed to be a fun, guilt-free pastime. Don't force it. It will happen.

Good luck and happy vaping!

Hello everybody this is my first post. I have been smoking about 12 years, and am finding it tough to quit as well as many of us are. Instead of trying to quit all together, when I got my first little eGo type cigarette I went from smoking a pack-a pack and a half a day, to single digits overnight. I was so impressed I got an eVic, and love it, but still haven't stopped smoking cigs, but I've been weening myself off of them over the past few days, allowing myself only four a day max, and I've been doing well with it. Today though I had major cravings, but I've been taking a cig out of the pack a good while beforehand so the air drys it out and sort of stales it out. So far I've only smoked one full one, and split another one in half, so when I go back to it it tastes even nastier. I don't even like tobacco tastes in my juices now. Hopefully doing these little things I will be able to completely kick the habit and possibly help somebody else in the process. I did order some higher nic% juices too, to help complete the transition. Good luck everybody. Oh and I also got my brother into it, but he's yet to really dive into vaping like I have.

My issue at first was that I was using the "fun" flavors. Try using tobacco flavors similar to the flavor of cigarette you are trying to quit. Im still mixing a bit. I have one e-liquid that is flavored similar to marlboro light and one thats flavored like Mountain Dew. Its really not as bad as it sounds. Its basically a sweet lemon-lime flavored cigarette as far as taste goes.
