Here in Wisconsin, for a few months before quitting my first time, I was doing roll your own at a place in town that had a large machine that did it work you. $30 for 200 cigarettes. Decent deal. Eventually state government meant want to ban this practice and did so by sneaking a law that did so into a road maintenance bill.

While this is an oversimplified account of what happened it got me thinking. What are the chances the same thing could happen with ecigs/juice and the whole government shutdown deal? Could something be added somewhere deep within the budget bill they are arguing over that could fast-track stiff regulations on ecigs?

I guess it's just hard for me to be concerned about the whole thing with the FDA for a few reasons. As I posted in a previous thread, I joined this forum over 3 years ago, and the same petitions were being passed around, the same FDA scare threads were common. Nothing has changed in 3 years. I'd be naive to say that doesn't mean it won't or can't, but I'm a little less concerned.

Another reason is that I don't think that any amount of government regulation has the power to make people stop doing something they want to do. There are endless examples of that. I for one submit that it won't stop me.

I suppose anything is possible. I think the onus is on me in the event that they do sneak something in. So towards that eventuality, I have chosen to stockpile my juice, just in case. I keep a one-year (minimum) supply in opaque glass bottles that have been put into a vacuum bag and then into the freezer. Every month, I add to that supply, in addition to my then current needs. In a year or two, I'll start rotating that stock to keep it relatively fresh.

When my stockpile reaches 2 1/2 or three years-worth, I'll stop adding to it. If this thing happens, I'll have a comfortable cushion and hopefully ride out their stupidity.

Like others are saying ... don't be too concerned about it happening ... but it doesn't hurt to be prepared.

I was doing the exact same thing! Not as much as the worry part, but those darn RYO machines, usually a 15-30 minute wait then at a machine that would constantly breakdown - we were not allowed to touch anything but the front buttons. Then the Highway Bill closed down a lot of the RYO shops. I was saved when a friend showed me her EGO twist at work. So i went and got one, so much better than the gas station cig-alikes and the old 901's i had given up on.

But this is not my first rodeo witht he FDA (another issue completely) and they are very sneaky - nothing would surprise me with them.

Vaping has skyrocketed in popularity over the last year or so, comparing it to 3 years ago is misleading.

This wasn't a billion-dollar industry three years ago.
