Whats wrong with the Protank? You dont have to rebuild you can just buy new heads?
Ive had it 3 weeks and it worked great for 2 or 3 days and then stops working no vape no taste im using 50/50 juice mix but I cant get more then 3 days use out of a wick head. I even keep my twist all the way down cuz if I go above 3.8 I taste burn. My wick heads have all ben from one container so maybe they are bad I dont know im just so frustrated right now. I dont want to order more just to find out they are the same.

Man, sorry to hear about your troubles. I've been using the Protank with the original, factory set up for a couple weeks with not too many complaints. I have noticed that sweeter juices and darker juices can really gum up the coil heads. I had a head only last about a week of vaping cola. I'm looking into rebuilding these heads because it looks quite easy to do. There's been some good reviews of folks replacing the wick with mesh and keeping the flavor wick set up.

Maybe it's time for you to move to cartos / tanks (or back to)...

Good luck, and I hope you find what you're looking for.

this is just IMO here.....

I got my first KPT a few months back. At first i unboxed and filled, not removing one of the top little "flavor wicks" that sits above the coil. It went dry on me a few times and i got harsh hits with little to no vapor. Then i removed the top wick and all was well for a few days. once the wick was saturated and dried a few times, i noticed i would get gurgley and it did flood a few times. So the next head was with both of the flavor wicks......again harsh dry hits and little vapor. So in the box of oldies it went.

recently i went back to it and tried to rebuild it with silica wick. Now it was fairly easy to do but it did not taste right to me. I am not a fan of the way most silica tastes. So after some digging here i found out a bout rebuilding the KPT with a micro coil and using cotton as the wick. cotton like a cotton ball or from the end of qtip. I had some wire lying around and gave it shot by following people's methods here on ecf. My FIRST micro coil was nothing short of amazing. The flavor was much better, plumes of vapor were being blown across my table and the throat hit was increased almost 2 fold.

I tell you this as you say you do not want to rebuild. If anyone knows me on ecf, they know i am carto tank lover. tried CE style for years and never was a fan and Genesis style to me sucks. So when the KPT came out i was like eh, lets try it. i like the design and the amount of juice it holds and it looks great on my chrome provari. Now with it working this well and being this cheap to not only buy, but to rebuild....its perfect for my style of vaping.

moral of the story, maybe try spending about 4 dollars on some 30 gauge kanthal A1 wire and use some cotton balls or qtips to make a wick and give it a shot. its not too hard and i would hate to have to offer you some $$ for the KPT. i too was there at almost giving up but it can be re-worked into what works best for me and maybe you too.

.02$

PS: and what people say about the heads getting gunked is 100% true. these coils are small and never evenly spaced, the wicks are tiny and the juice is always pulled on to them by gravity. i found that these heads get gunked a lot faster than any carto, clearo or any other device i have ever used and that goes with any juice IMO.

Just to agree, once the coil is rebuilt the ProTank is much better. Know that is not what you wanted but is what my experience has been. Also one of the two ProTanks I owned would leak into the airtube twords the top of the tank, my solution was to get a Tatroe tank. With rebuilt cotton/coil it has been near flawless. I use it when I have a long drive or something that does not let me drip.

Hope it helps a bit..

Yet no one asked what type juice he is using. Different liquids load up at different rates.
No one bothered to mention, Low power tends to leave simi-boiled liquids to coat and clog the wick.
No one suggested Rinsing in HOT water and swapping the heads every few tanks to keep them fresh.
No one suggested washing the Tank and coil head before use(maybe boil)

Lots of things that may be simple answers.

All may be true points to add but i would not add these as point from my experiences as most of what you have said did not work for me. the stock heads just do not perform as they should IMO. Flavor wicks to fill a gap to stop flooding or to help wicking is bogus IMO. Also not doubling the wicks stock becuase that will almost choke the wicking ( as it did for me with 1.5 and 2mm double wicks) is bogus IMO.

Again all my .02$ but i just posted what i thought might help a fellow vaper that was where i was a few weeks ago. i am no professional rebuilder by any means, actually i consider myself a noob at RDA/RBA still but this one was the easiest and most performing one to date so i thought it may help here. If you think your questions are what should be asked, then just ask them.

Does the coil glow have you tried a new head. They come with a spare. The coil may have let go. Ohm out the head or replace it make sure it's making contact with the center post. if you put in a head you have to screw it down tight or the center post may not make contact. had that happen a couple of days ago. If you don't have a good connection like gunk on either the post on the battery or the post on the atty you won't get current flow. No watts. No red glow. Try just putting the base on the battery minus the top piece of the head and see if you get a glow.

Not sure why you chose to bounce back on me. My post was in General - but whatever.

I do agree with IMO in post as there is a fair amount of disagreement as to Performance of just about every device made.
Right here on ECF we have many ProTank users that are in love with performance right out of the box. (YMMV)
For me........well still waiting on mine from a stalled coop. However, I have never had any device I had to totally overhaul to get working. Tweak maybe, but that is about it.

Pretty condescending way to put that.

The coils do gunk up fast. So, every evening I swap out the current coil and pop in a cleaned coil. Then I rinse the dirty coil, do a short vodka soak and set it aside to dry. Seems to be working out ok for me.
