I am always confused by this, people are different, but...Lurker you were a 30+ a day smoker, I was a 20+. I started with 24/36mg alternating throughout the day. I have never felt anything but great since switching(over 2 weeks now). I find, however, that puff-per-puff I am vaping less than I smoked. I do not have the thing in my mouth/hands all the time(I want to, haha, but I am busy). Actually, my starter came with 18mg, and the first 2 days I WAS vaping nonstop, but at 18mg. I have used the 36 for an extended period, was very aware that I was doing so, and never felt sick. I dunno...

I am with Karen, these high strengths could bring down e-cigs very soon. All it takes is one ignorant kid, and there were more than one last time I left my house...

I am not going to keep with these strengths, not with options. Analogs I had no options on nic intake, now I do. I know everyone is different, and for me I think a strong throat hit with less nic will trick my brain enough to make weaning smoother. Still workin on that mix...

And back to black....

I was smoking 20+ light cigs a day. When I began e-cigs over 11 months months ago, I only vaped 11mg or less. About a month ago I decided to buy the 36mg (my intention was to dilute with VG). After getting it, I decided to try it full strength. I went all day vaping the 36mg and like Eb, did not feel any different than when I vaped 11mg except I felt somewhat calmer. It may be that I did not vape as much that day, but it was pretty darn close to my usual vaping. Truth be told, I would rather not vape 36mg and have been diluting 50% or more.

I agre with you constant puffer guys,
this thing is my pacifier,
if it is not in my mouth it is in my hand being played with and twirled,

when I actually put it down the other night,
my husband asked if I was feeling ill .......

he is also thrilled that I no longer smoke cigarettes,
so we are both happy that I found my pacifier .

I like what you post, Sanjp. Just not the looks-like-an-ad centered style. That's what I'd call silly individualism, BTW. Sometimes "conformity" has a basis in reason. Flush left text is easier to read. Period. End of my argument on this. Print it in red if you want to ...

I guess a lot of it is in your overall plan for switching to ecigs. If you're starting high as a replacement to smoking, then I'd say just go with what feels comfortable. If you get symptoms, use lower nic juice or dilute your current stock.

The beauty of these things is you can keep cutting the juice downward and not feel a heavy withdrawal all the way to 0. And with the amount of flavorings out there (gotta love some Bickford's) you can keep the oral habit portion long after without nicotine dependence at all.

Some folks will alternate between regular/high and 0 nic juice, some will just cut their regular/high juice. Either way, you should probably ask yourself if your eventual goal is to wean yourself off nicotine or just replace analogues with another nic source in the long term.

Not sure if this will help the OP but I slipped up as well. I started vaping and cut down dramatically. I then did this for about two weeks doing both and then only vaping. I slipped after 11 days and started smoking analogs again for 4 days. Yeah it was only 3 to 5 tops per day but I still vaped as well. Then I told myself TAKE 2 on the quiting and here I am.

I am not one to judge and I hope you have better luck next time. I sadly dont have much choice but to quit due to my husband has stage 4 lung cancer. Everyone is different and what works for some may not work for others. I wish you luck in whatever you do but dont beat yourself up as that is the worst you can do IMO....

AS for my e-cig its my magic wand and is never far away or too low for a decent amount of vaporization... :p

The thread fits well with others that are about using too high nic strength. I know Lurker's learnings for him/herself were important, however bottom line, too high too much. Anyone who keeps telling newbies to order high strength nic, this is why you need to stop that.

I don't read the centered posts either... ;)

My experience:

I find myself very "attached" to my e-cig. If I'm not actively vaping, I either have it in my teeth like a pipe (not a very feminine habit but too bad 8-o), puff on it like a pipe, in my hands or close by. I did not increase my nicotine level but used a lower nicotine level than when I was using analogs.

This way, if I want to vape my brains out, the likelyhood of getting an OD headache from the nicotine is diminished. (I'm hooked on Janty RY4 and Puresmoker's Riskee Juice. )

Mostly, my ecig has become my pacifier/crutch/nervous tic. Students of psychology can mull that over at their leisure.

All I know is that I don't smoke regular cigs anymore, I can breathe and a cold does not put me in bed for 10 days with a wracking cough and that makes me very very happy. :D

...back to regular programming.

Sigmund Freud would say you are stuck in the oral phase of childhood development. At least its not the .... phase that you are stuck in. :D

I'm glad that are you not giving up on vaping all together! Good for you Lurker.

However I disagree with not using a higher nic level at first. It depends on the person here. If someone thinks they can handle it, and they where a heavy pack a day plus smoker they might need that higher level. I personally used 24mg the first couple weeks I started and now I'm starting to use 11mg. Gotta use up all my 18mg juice then that's all I'll have most likely! I also want to say to new vaporers... Choose your stance from the getgo and you'll go far. You wana hate ciggs? Tell yourself when your first start vapin how much you hate them, how gross they are, how they wasted you SO much money, your precious health, ect. The mind is an amazing thing that doesn't get enough credit. Use it your advantage! I'm not saying think of smokes all the time, but when the thoughts arise, CHOOSE your thoughts on them :) Best of luck everybody.

Well here I am years later! I realize now I never OD'd on nic. Quitting analogs uncovered a lot of anxiety. Those times I thought I OD'd were panick attacks I'm pretty sure. I traded my e-cig stuff for Swedish snus a couple years ago and it's worked well for me (and yes I use the strong ones LOL). I really appreciate all the great advice I've gotten on here.

Thanks!
