I'm not sure can you describe its taste or smell?

Cracked open the Guaiacol and it definitely is a smokey aroma but not heavy in your face. We just finished a camping trip recently and it was very close to the subtle aroma of the park at night when all the campers had just lit their fires for the night. I can't really smell any of the spice nuances as in the description but absolutely smoke.

I think I found the missing ingredent. See this description from TFA

Methylbutyraldehyde 1% (PG)

taste description: Musty and rummy, with nutty and cereal notes - caramel and fruity undernotes

whats missing is the musty, rummy taste which is definitly in there and it does have a somewhat very slight sweet note (caramel) and brightness (fruit).

Placed my order will report back.

So I think the formula may be

T5 7%
AP 1%
Methylbutyraldehyde will start at 1% and build up.

Yes I looked it up on TFA and I don't think that's it. the decription is more of a burning camp fire smell generally found in smokey tobaccos or any recipe requiring a smoked taste. My thought was more of a heckory smoked taste.

Going to chime in.....
Been following this thread from the beginning cuz Prime was my fave. Been into DIY for over a year and a half and hadn't bought a vendor juice in that time, but always said that Prime would be the only juice I would drop $$ on again. So of course I've been working on my own clone.

Prime was the only juice that ever made my wife sniff the air and ask WTH I was "smoking". I knew I was on the right track when she did that the other night with my DIY prime. It had that familiar musty taste and of course the WTH moment....getting close....maybe.

Yesterday I broke down and bought a bottle of Prime from one of our local B&M.......

Here's what I've been working with.....
Pre-mixed t-5......couple of 30ml bottles I'm using to mix small test batches.
Ap at 2%
Trimethyl at 4%
Tetramethyl at 4%

Flavor profile is very similar....but after cracking open the real Prime and taking one hit I immediately knew that there is something else missing. Tweaking percentages and pg/vg ratios isn't going to get it in my mix.....there is something else lingering in there.

Hope somebody stumbles on it. I could live with my clone now for a nostalgia vape, and had I not tried the real deal again I would have been just fine. But now that I've got a bottle of the real deal I'm hooked again. And this bottle is disappearing very fast...lol

And there is where the problem comes in. Everyone agrees that it's so close but is missing "that one" ingredent. But everyone has a different take on what that ingredent is and all these suggestions make sence and could work. It proves that saying around here that "taste is so subjective".

And that is why I think it will help to have the "real" Prime15 to compare as we each tweak our personal flavor profiles, but I do appreciate those who get the "basics" down as I had no idea where to start. There are so many different vendors to choose from and a flavor from one doesn't compare to another.

I know that I personally don't notice any peppery taste, but then I vape 12mg currently with some of my DIY going down as far as 9mg.

I also just delved into the world of RBA's and at first using Halo Café Mocha - I didn't much care for the taste, but now in an AGI with a SS Wick - I just can't get enough of it.

Yep there is an underlying flavor there, and it depends on the voltage/wattage you are vaping at.The lower the v's the sweeter the exhale is(it's not real sweet kind of dry, cocoa)and the higher the v's the more of a smoky peppery tobacco flavor comes out, along with that nose hit.Vaping this as my ADV for a year and still can not pin down the exact DIY for Prime15,come on Halo, help us out a little.

EDIT: Have any of you watched some of the youtube vids on Prime15? Some of the reviewers(the ones that did not like Prime15 are the reviews i am singling out)said that Prime15 tasted like Celery and grass to them. Now what underlying flavor/molecule are we missing that would have those qualities but, still taste like an excellent tobacco juice to us??

I think it's:

Methylbutyraldehyde 1% (PG)

Ordered it and will report back when it arrives and I've tried it.

Hey guys i was doing some searching, since we think that Hangsen T5 is the tobacco in the Prime15 recipe, the cocoa might be Hangsen too.Hangsen has a Cocoa flavoring and ECX sells it for $5.99 for 10ml bottle.I have just ordered a bottle of it to see if it is the Cocoa flavor instead of FA's?

I am just speculating here on the Hangsen Cocoa being used instead of FA's Cocoa. This thread has got me intrigued with the possibility of a Prime clone,i have not put in my 210ml Prime order(which is sorely needed)in hopes a clone can be DIY'd.

I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Since hangsen is the world's largest producer of flavorings, it would make sense to source from a single distributor for a line of products. The AP and TMP aren't made by TPA, so those additives could just be from another large distributor. Being the quantities for cocoa are so small (appx. 1drop/10ml) in this recipe, I feel the need for a specific type is negligible. However, if it does bring that mysterious missing quality, it would be great. For me, this recipe (with .3% cocoa added) is close enough to get my Prime fan friends to switch over. I think you will always be able to tell the difference between the two since the pg/vg ratio and nic source is proprietary. What people may be ignoring is that this recipe, although vaguely different, could actually be better than the original. Halo is far from unicorn.
