Interesting - I was following that thread,and the only discussion I recall was Halo's reluctance to give percentages of PG/VG - there was nothing about other ingredients that I recall. Maybe I missed it.

It seems that the SUPPLIER OP deleted all conversations and posts by others in that thread so something was said by a poster that they did not want to made public knowledge.

Yes that was me, they have closed a thread on me before for this type of questioning acting as if I am specifically bashing Halo (it's their thread, blah, blah). But deleting Customer's questions because they may be non-flattering? Wow!!! I let them know I have purchased at least 6 or 7 times from them (and like some of their juice), and wanted to inquire about chemical ingredients that may or may not be listed as 'Natural & Artificial Flavoring' in their 'proprietary' blends. A couple of Halo's fanboys called me out for wanting to DIY Menthol Ice, which I have no problem admitting, because I do want to be aware of what I am ingesting into my lungs.

The shut down occurred after I directly asked Halo / Cinder Ella to at the very least deny certain chemical ingredients are in fact lurking in Halo e-liquid (without asking them about exact ratios, percentages, etc):

1) Triacetin: I explained that I myself and others may be sensitive to this ingredient

2) Ethanol: I explained it is possible people in recovery from alcohol may want to avoid it (I know it's at least in the Menthols they make)

3) Polyethylene Glycol (PEG 400): I explained that Customers who use or have used Halo want to know (it may be contributing to that throat hit / vapor production combination) as it is not well documented or understood

4) Benzene of any type: I explained this may be liked to cancer and Halo Customers surely hope it is not an ingredient and demand to know!

No answer from Halo to date.

For anyone wanting to know the ballpark PG/VG ratio of Halo's (or any) e-liquids:

Cinder Ella said:
while I CANNOT share and actually don't even know the exact PG/VG ratio, I can clarify that is it SIGNIFICANTLY higher in PG than VG, meaning somewhere in between 51% and 99% PG.

It dawned upon me that because the density differences in PG & VG the ratio could be deduced within a few percentage points barring any 'hidden' ingredients such as PEG 400 etc. and taking into consideration that 'Natural and Artificial Flavorings' may contain Triacetin, Ethanol etc.

Distilled Water = 1 g/ml.(cc)

Propylene Glycol Density = 1.04 g/ml.(cc)

Vegetable Glycerine = 1.26 g/ml.(cc)

Polyethylene Glycol 400 (PEG 400) = 1.13 g/ml.(cc)

Ethanol = .789 g/ml.(cc)

Triacetin = 1.16 g/ml.(cc)

Benzene = .8765 g/ml.(cc)

so 30ml. of PG weighs 31.2g.

and 30ml. of VG weighs 37.8g.

which would make 30ml. of a 50%PG/50%VG blend weigh 34.5g.

If anyone has 10 or more ml. of liquid and a good digital scale (take into consideration any tare weight) I would be very interested in the results.

.....Since many of us are so interested in copying Halo flavors, someone could pool some $$$ together and have TFA do some analysis......

They charge $100 for doing Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). -Full ingredient disclosure.

Awesome Idea Johnny! Best bet would be to supply the sample in a generic bottle so there are no conflicts...

Also, I was looking into this for my own mixes a while back and stumbled upon the information that some Universities have this technology and in many cases offer this service. Plus as a bonus, they were doing it at a deep discount for enrolled Students... As an example, if I remember correctly, University of Sydney (AU) was charging Students like $15 Aussie Bucks! Perhaps if someone has a connection this could be done really inexpensively.

EDIT: For anybody wondering why on earth I would want to test my own mix (Does sound funny) I was interested in checking if there are any reactions that could possibly occur when mixing PG/VG/Nic/Vanillin etc. that may net something unknown.

Ok I've found something interesting messing around with my Halo Menthol Ice DIY clones. Using around 0.5% Vanillin, 0.5% - 1% Menthol and 5% - 10% total of various Mint flavors in different batches. I first noticed that when I compare them side by side, although not perfect on the flavoring yet, the Halo has no real 'edge' on it. Then I noticed if I take a drag of the Halo and then quickly take a drag of the DIY blend it is also less 'edgy'. Got me thinking about possible secret ingredients like Smooth or Magic Mask? I currently have no other Halo flavors (tossed the Tribeca) to run this experiment on but thought I'd put this out there for the experts.

I'm watching this thread with great interest. I've been trying to come close to Sub Zero for months now without much luck. An ingredient I hadn't tried is Vanillin. Can I substitute one of TFA's vanillas? I just can't recreate the "punch" that Sub Zero has. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated as I'm kind of at a loss as to what to try next. My current effort includes menthol, horehound, peppermint, koolada and a couple drops of spearmint. I won't bother to post the amounts because it's really not even close.

My Sub-Zero replacement goes like this:

50pg 50vg 10mg nic {low nic- this is for a sub ohm dripper}

3% TFA Peppermint OR Wintergreen
3% TFA Menthol
10% TFA Koolada
1% TFA Cotton Candy {EM}

-Yea, yea I know that my Koolada is off the scale. It makes the inhale WAY cold. Freezing, in fact. I LOVE THIS. Also epic TH. I would not advise anybody to start that high with Koolada, but it sure works for me. I prefer the wintergreen variant. This is not a SubZero clone by any means, but it is in the same ballpark, which by definition is an intense menthol/mint/cold vape. It is less sweet than SubZero which I like, too. I gotta infuse these recipes with TFA Horehound and perhaps a bit of fresh cream or something for mouth feel. :2c:

Thanks very much for your tips! Sounds like we have the same tastes. I love the freezing and TH that Sub Zero gives me. I'm going to try upping the Koolada and I'll order some Cotton Candy too. I've been thinking about experimenting with a drop or two of Sour and Bitter. I get a hint of bitter in the morning from Sub Zero. Later in the day it tastes sweet to me. Let me know how you like the horehound in there.

I think they are getting their concentrates from this Chinese manufacturer...
China Pure flavor concentrates from Xi'an Manufacturer: Xi'an Muren Industry & Trade Co. Ltd

I can't see where to get them retail. Does anyone know?

Found another supplier from France who sells Halo clone flavors.
I haven't tried them and I don't know if they ship internationally. It might be worth a shot!

Torque:
Arome Tabac TorK 65 par Arômes-et-liquides.fr

Tribeca:
Arome Tabac Ryan USA par Arômes-et-liquides.fr

Oh and the first vendor I mentioned is now cheaper on the Halo (aqua) flavors:

Aqua (arômes concentrés) - E-liquide.com

:D Look at some of the flavor names!!! Where did you find this???? It says they have free samples! This could be just another FAKE Chinese copying machine, or it could be where Halo gets their flavors from...... :confused:

:vapor::vapor::vapor: -I am interested in their "Orque 56" :laugh:
