Well...USPS is USPS...can't do much about that other than using much more expensive shipping options. It is strange though that USPS seems to do much better in some regions than others. Here in CT, outside of my bone-head mail-person, shipping form all over the country has been pretty consistent and decent. WIth Halo shipping from NJ, I guess that I am pretty lucky. I hate waiting even when I know the delivery date!

USPS generally gets things delivered in a timely fashion. The tracking is awful though. Not sure if the tracking gets better between First Class, Priority, 3 Day, etc.

Now that I think about it, I think First Class doesn't technically have tracking, just delivery confirmation.

That's what my hubby told me. He worked for the Post Office for over 30 years before retiring 9 years ago. He said First Class parcel Tracking/Delivery Confirmation only covers the delivery confirmation part, that USPS is only required to scan the parcel when it reaches the addressees local post office for delivery. That's why it's the cheapest option, it requires less handling. So If full tracking is important then pick one of the other mailing options, not first class.

I think what confuses people is that they don't really tell you this. You get a tracking number, then they tell you they've got the package. Sometimes it's updated like any other, other times its not. What they should do is automatically state the package is en route, give an estimated delivery date, and state the only thing available through the tracking site is delivery confirmation. Far less aggravating.

I just got some juice in the mail today. USPS's site said electronic info received since Saturday. No change until about 3 hours after delivery when it had all the info updated at once.
