I have a GLV2 coming (Sara said she is getting it to package today) that will have gold head and end caps, and a black/bronze flip-flop body. Jay is doing a 5v head, and a 3.7v head for me in the gold so I can swap back and forth. :)
Moorea already made me 2 gold tanks, they are just waiting ....

Gotta run for a bit .... BBL

I really want to purchase a Super Mini next, but they are frequently sold out. :( Know anyone who's looking to get rid of one? It'd be a bonus if it looked snazzy with my Phiniac. ;)

Call Sara - they are doing stuff by phone right now, and they are opening a pre-order in the next few days .... call her, she is great and can at least tell you what is what.

Yea, there is Pyrex, and there is a reinforced glass that a lot of people claim is Pyrex. I was convinced you were using real pyrex by the concrete drop test in the garage. the imitation pyrex would have shattered, the more expensive knock offs would have split in 2 through the middle. the cheap chinese "pyrex" even has lead to make the glass stronger. it has a slight bluish tint when you look through the cut, real pyrex comes out either a clear or clear milky white depending on how it broke.
Your tanks took it like a champ, nothing but the real thing can do that. It speaks volumes about your products quality :D

Yup they are real Pyrex and we new that. We were just hoping the glass would work as some said it would. Oh well, sand blasting has its pluses and will be just as nice!

I'm just excited about taking out my computer and but my design skills to work.. I have so many awesome design ideas that we can not do with the blown glass. For starters a few with the Phiniac Lizard. Maybe some more detailed designs like a SUn Moon and Start design, maybe some planets, really anything that requires more detail. If we do name tanks, we can then allow people to choose from a few different fonts! All of which we can do with the sand blasting as well so it is all good.

moorea - do you and hubby know how to sandblast? Man, you guys are "Jack of all Trades". :)

I will have to figure out how to get a good picture of PV when she gets here (and think of a name). Good lighting .... white background? What color would be best? Easiest?

I think the gold will really pop on a black background.

As for do we no how to sandblast no

But for some unknown reason the hubby has a sand blast gun in the garage... He, is usually good at that stuff. He has done a bunch of research on it and he sees no reason why he can't do it. So he wants to give t a try. I a have no doubt he will ruin a few tanks trying. Best case is he figures it out (which I believe he will) and we will have sand blasted tanks up on the site soon. Worse case he doesn't but I will make sure we have fun trying!

I think I have seen the enclosed cabinet that you stick you hands/arms in through the gloves .... like a Level 4 CDC lab. LOL

Thats exactly what they look like although I didn't think CDC I thought of the incubators for premature babies. They have a hose you can attach your sand blaster to and a system that collects the sand to be reused again!

How does that work, do you just 'air brush' the sand or whatever media you use to make a design on the tank? Can you do detailed work with it?

Well this is the way we are doing it. I will be creating designs on the computer. Those designs will then be sent to a printer that will cut the design into vinyl. We then peel away either the negative or positive pieces of the designs leaving the parts we do not want to expose to the sand. From there the vinyl is adhered to the tank. Then the tanks goes into the cabinet to be blasted.

So yes, we can get much more detailed designs and lettering!

The only hold up will be purchasing the printer to cut the vinyl, other then that we are pretty much ready to move forward. So everyone should buy more tanks so we can get the printer :p We might try some free hand stuff before we get the printer though!

That would be cool ... but pricey?? Is hubby a good artist? I can't draw stuff freehand worth a darn. I do ok with pencil, planning, and detail, but it takes me a long time. I drew a rhino face is HS that turned out looking very realistic, but it took me forever.

He isn't a bad artist, but our goal is to work with the computer as it opens us up to so many more possibilities. For example, I can then use these for name tanks and charge up front for them as people will know exactly what the name tank will look like before hand and can even pick from a list of fonts. We are adding the possibility of not only more detail but an expected outcome.
