In the clouds
Blessed was the day that a young man from a small town in Maine, a craftsman by trade quit smoking and joined ECF in February 2010. Blessed was the day he decided that what was available for vaping wasn't good enough for him and proceeded to make his own personal vaporizer. And blessed was that day, sometime in March or April 2010, when he used his god-given talents and created his first e cig mod out of wood.

He shared his creation with his friends and demand for his mod grew. The rest is history... his thread led to his own web site, Reosmods.com, and on this day one year ago, he became an official ECF supplier and The Reo Grand Opening Sale Thread was born. With over 100,000 posts and over 1 million views – the thread is now called the Reo Lounge - filled with hundreds of satisfied and would be customers and friends. His mods have helped many who like him, wanted simplicity, convenience, and the best flavor and vapor to be had in their everyday vaping, in one elegant, simple solution that began with an all wood box mod called The REO. Blessed is the day in December 2010 that I learned about the Reo.

It has been a pleasure to witness Rob’s continued innovations on his design and his Reo line grow to include The Reo Woodvil (originally The Reo), The ReoGrand (aluminum), The ReoMini (aluminum), and soon to come The Reo Mini Woodvil, and nickel plated Reos up his sleeve.

Thanks to the ingenuity of this incredibly personable, unassuming, modest and gifted young man, thousands of ex-smokers today, myself included, enjoy a mod that combined with a great atomizer and a great juice, delivers an experience usually described as vape bliss and one that I describe as smoking déjà vu. And, because we can get that from his mods, thousands of us will never smoke cigarettes again. He has saved many of us not only tons of money trying to find a satisfying vape experience, but I would go as far as saying his mod has saved lives by helping us stay quit. I bless his name and wish him a long, healthy and happy life and continued success in all of his endeavors.

I am proud to call him my Reo babies' daddy!

Happy Anniversary guys I haven't gotten a reo yet but am ordering one on the first I will finally have my dream mod. I am just waiting for my monthly check or I would have gotten one already. That is one bad part about being disabled not much money to get the things you want

I can relate to that. I will say that you have chosen the absolute best for your money imho :)

Congratulations on all the success that was achieved through the creation of the REO. It is definitely an AWESOME mod that has blessed me with nic overdose on a daily basis and hope to pick up another one in the near future. I give my best wishes and the continued success of your company and this community for the years to come

So I was thinking about just leaving this thread to everyone else…but after some thinking, I thought I might share my brief history with the REO and why you hear me say mushy stuff like “making a profound impact in so many lives” and stuff like that.
Right around Christmas 09 my life started to get complicated. I was just figuring out my Mom had dementia and schitzophrenia and I was given notice that on Jan 10…I was going to lose my job. We just started a business the year before and the real estate market was going from bad to worse. I was smoking a solid pack a day and Wayne was smoking a solid 2 packs a day (that's about $900/month). Things were scary and unpredictable at best.
In February, I moved my Mom in to our house, much to her dismay….and ours. She hadn’t paid rent in months and her landlady had had enough of the weirdness. Once I got her here, she was sharing a room with my then 11yo daughter. Over the weekend, we packed up our office and moved my desk to our bedroom and his desk down to the basement to give my mom the 3rd bedroom. Just for reference, it is an unfinished basement lit by a couple light bulbs…its cold, dark, and unpleasant. It was also at this time that we bought two Blu starter kits. Nuff said.
As time progressed my mother became more unpredictable and unstable. She would sob uncontrollably and act out violent visions she saw in her head and I was in fear of my daughter's safety. Her instability was heart wrenching and terrifying for all three of us. Her “craziness” felt as if it were contagious. Wayne became isolated, I was stressed beyond belief, and my daughter…didn’t know what to think. It felt like we were all trapped in a poorly run psyche ward.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that Wayne had found something he could focus on….vaping. I was angry, bitter, terrified….thank god for cigarettes. Seriously, no joke….smoking was my only private, quiet time I had….my only solace while watching my mom lose herself, me lose my sanity, my husband, and possibly my life. That’s right, I honestly thought that this was going to be the end of me, my marriage, and my ability to function as a mother. He quit smoking in March….and I was offended at the very suggestion of giving up cigarettes. How could he??? And at a time such as this? Expect me to give up the one thing that brought me a moment of sanity once an hour or so. Puhleeze.
He bought everything under the sun…hoping that I would find it useful. Sideshows, 902s, eGos, eGos, and more eGos by a different name. Then came the mods. How outrageous!!! He was spending thousands of dollars and spending every spare moment on some silly forum making friends with people all over the place while I was dying inside, and financially things were not going well. He even had the audacity to suggest that I join this silly forum too…that I might take some time to read other folks stories. Ya…my life was in a shambles and I just couldn’t begin to accept that maybe he was on to something. Instead I became resentful, thinking that the ECF had taken my one friend, who understood me better than anyone. :grr:
Well, then came the mini REO. When he first put it in my hands, I was like….whatever. ya…*sigh*….I’ll try it. It took me a few days of picking it up…putting it down. Then it grew on me and I started carrying it around with me…still had a couple smokes a day…but kept on vaping. After about a month…I went for two weeks without smoking. Then I went for about a month without a smoke. Dang! This was working!!! After taking some time to realize what was happening….I quickly joined the ECF and hurried through the new members forum so I could thank Rob. And here is why….
While this did nothing to help me deal with my Mom…who I did finally get into a nursing home, by the way…it gave something for Wayne to focus on that was positive. This was the only positive thing we had going for us at the time and I was too wound up to see it. If he had not …I fear things would not have worked out as well and we would probably not be together….and I, of course, would still be smoking. So, I know that I may come off a bit cheesie at times, but in that odd twist of fate, Rob was there for Wayne along with many of you who may read this. This story is of course much more complicated, but I fear I’ve written too much as it is. I am here now, smoke free for 9 months…and I guess…doing my part to be there for that person who might be in a complicated spot too. Thank you, Rob…and ECF….and our friends here in the forum. You never know when something you might say or do, or offer the most wicked pv around…helps someone else, even if it is brightening their day for that one fleeting moment that we all need to help get us through the hard times.

Well where to start...It was a simple 510 that first ended my last cigarette but I was always on the brink to go back which led to one upgrade to another to another till hundreds of dollars was spent. Then I saw this new order thread for the REO (no minis or grands back then) just this bottomfeeder wooden box that promised to be hassle free. So thinking "What the Hell" I order one....thats when all changed for me. it was great..no more at the brink to smoke...fantastic!!! I knew others needed to get onboard so I wouldn't allow the thread to drop off the the supplier front page and kept bumping and bumping till others joined in. After buying another REO it helped me drop my nic level down to 0mg. Then I ran into some financial problems and sold everything...guess what happen next.....in my mailbox was a free REO WOODY unsolicited just sent from a man with with a huge heart.
Said before and I'll keep saying it...Thank you Rob!!!! Not seeing my financial situation ever getting back to where it once was I eventually quit vaping for almost 5 months. Like life can do the pressure of money and personal loss I considered stopping at a gas station to pick up a pack of smokes then remembered that Woody which I kept and decided to go home and satisfy my craving with it. Well making a long story a little longer I ordered some high nic juice and was able to avoid a cigarette. From the time I quit till Rob sent me his personal bench Woody I had been away from the ECF and this family...not going to happen ever again. Love ya Rob & Congrats....just know business aside you make a big difference.

Happy Anniversary, Robert!
It's really hard to comprehend all that you've accomplished in such a short time. The innovation in REO mods is unmatched in the industry and knowing your tireless devotion to your craft, we can be pretty sure they will evolve even further in the future.
Thank you for the excellence in your workmanship, the great personal service and especially the friendship. Just as it is with your mods--a cut above the rest, so it is with your willingness to give of yourself to your fans in the evening after probably shucking for 12 or 16 hours--you just don't find such kindness every day--except here. Thanks for being you.:)
