lol, I buy Mobil1 from wallyworld, maybe a few other items. Food? No.

I'll trust you on this, but there is inspection and standards for the ingredients. There is the accountability factor. I can go after and sue an American Company. But I have little recourse with a Chinese company. And yes, some American manufacturer's seem very small (like MrsT) but other American labs are as good as that vid posted on another thread.

I hope any of you DIY are very careful. It is your health. Clean, pristine, sanitary best practices should be followed.

Even farther off topic, but during Prohibition, my great uncle died from bad homemade vodka. Having said this, we have smoked many poisons in the stinkies, (plus who knows what plant matter from friends...) All in my past!!

My mind trusts MrsT way more than some immaculate lab in china.

did your uncle brew the moonshine himself, or buy it? from watching moonshiners, the moonshine is not dangerous, it's the shonky people diluting it with methanol that causes the problem. That still happens in island holiday destinations close to australia, a few australians die every year of methanol poisoning.

Not shine, Vodka. As my Great Uncle Jesse told me, Uncle Steven was doing "skimmins". At some point in the process, impurities rise to the top, and are skimmed off. The skimming could have or be made into a very high alcohol product, or it's also possibly poisonous. Steven drank a lot of this. Uncle Jesse wasn't very specific about this to his great nephews (of course), but Steve either died of liver problems from bad alcohol, or he OD'd on alcohol one night. But the family made some of the best vodka in Camden, NJ. I remember the bathtub at GreatGranpop's was black, cause all the porcelain had long ago been chipped/burned off from making bathtub vodka.

My cousin actually still has a bottle. No one is either brave or stupid enough to do anything other than admire it.

And funny that my wife's Grandfather was a revenuer, looking for illegal makers.

It has been snowing all day and is supposed to snow all night also. I'm not going to want to look out in the morning. It's 0 now and is supposed to be -2 tonight. The high for tomorrow is to be 1 degree with -18 overnight. UGH

Similar crap weather here :( snuggle up with a blankey, good book, and a vape and stay inside

So, the Epiphany has past, and marks the end of the Great Holiday Season of 2013!! The last prize has been delivered, and all is well.

This was great fun. Next time we get bored, someone else offer up a freebie, and the mayhem ensues....

I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you.

I wish it was just freezing here. It'd have to go up 35 degrees to get to freezing!

I thought the wife accidentally hit the F/C button on the thermometer, but I hit it, and -19 C made me say a bad word! But -2 F ain't much better.

And it's currently 91F on Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro. sigh

funfact: -40 F = -40 C
