Oh man, I almost hate to post this.
But maybe we can just consider it a friendly bump?

Let me start by saying "Congrats!" to you, since it seems to be what you want.
And achieving a goal is something worthy of congratulations.
:)

As for me, I am about two weeks away from one year without nicotine.
Notice I don't say "nicotine free" because I don't look at it the same way you seem to.

I am not happy that I am not using nicotine anymore.
Not at all.

I stopped using it last January to avoid extortion fees from my health insurance at work.

Those fees were $50/month last year when I stopped using nicotine.
And now they are going up to $100/month this year.

That's nothing to be happy about.

Neither is the threat of Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease.
Which is what concerns me most now that I've been "forced" to stop using nicotine.

I will start using it again as soon as I retire.

I consider nicotine to be sort of like a vitamin.
Sort of like nicotinic acid (niacin) in a way.

Just some thoughts to ponder.

And please consider this a friendly bump rather than an intrusion on your celebration.
Maybe the conversation that ensues will keep your thread active for awhile?

Or maybe not?
:)

Anyway, congratulations Two Bears.
It's not necessarily an easy thing you've done.

Nicotine caused me so much grief i am glad to have it in the rearview Mirror.

The brain needs exercise just like any other part of the body.

Uncle Bill has Alzheimer's and asked a persons name every two minutes.

I fight off Alzheimer's and demensia by exercizing my brain while i still have one.

Playing Bridge
Doing Sudoku
And reading 100+ books a year to learn new things
I saw Uncle Bill's slide in Alzheimer's

First he became a couch potato in front of the TV, and could not be bothered to read books by his favorite author, to play cards, do cross words, sudoku or anything. The tube was his whole World.
