One of my 401 batteries had the same problem. It was basically not working even though I could still get the LED to come on it wasn't firing up the atty good enough to vape with. I ended up soaking it in rubbing alcohol just for the hell of it. Well, that totally killed it but I really considered it gone anyway. This was the first time I ever lost a battery.

Just tried this, and seems to work well. You will need to let the battery dry out for a least a few days to a week after trying this just to make sure that there is no liquid left in the battery.
What happens is the liquid gets in the battery and makes the switch stick.

Take a small shot glass size glass and put a small amount of H202 in the bottom. Fold a paper towel to form a thick strip and wrap this around the battery so it will stand up straight in shot glass.
You only want enough H202 to cover the threads plus 1/8 or so inches above the threads. Make sure you only fill slightly over the threads or you will short out your battery.
Let sit for a few hours.
Remove battery being careful to keep thread side down and blot excess H202 off the end.
Let sit, thread side down, in small glass with paper towel in bottom for a few days to a week.
This cleans off the juice.

The H202 method would certainly work, but I was hesitant for fear of shorting and spending a week sans e-cig (GAH! 8-o)

I don't know what model it would be, but mine is a super-mini of the kind Blu sells. It looks very very close to the 401. This model has four holes around the atty and two at the tip around the LED. I've been angrily puffing on just the battery for a couple hours, dreading a trip to pick up a pack of analogues, when I read damitintrblagain's post.

I grabbed the two air holes at the tip to block them and sucked on the threaded end, I kept tightening until I could remove no more air. I tightened the pressure until my jaw began to tire, then quickly released my grip on the holes at the tip. I assume that this loosened whatever build-up had collected, or at least un-stuck the switch.

It draws well, maybe not like a fresh battery, but well enough to hold until I get one. I hope this helps.

From experience I can tell you that you will need more than a few backup devices in case you run into these troubles. The key here is to not buy those stinky things anymore.

Spend the extra cash on a mod because you can get batteries in a pinch at Walmart. I always keep at least 10 extra atomizers waiting for their turn. An atomizer will just stop working in the blink of an eye usually at the most inopportune moment.
