Harsh Hits

I am a new member here and I am trying to find some answers. A little history first. I started vaping about one year ago. I have quit smoking cigs for about 3 years. I started with the normal 510 then when to the 510 Mega, 510 tank, ego tank and now the ego-c. I had a lot of trouble with the 510 T causing terrible hits, kind of like smoking plastic, or they wouldn't work hardly at all. I just received the ego c system last week and I am having more problems with them causing plastic hits. I try a new atomizer and that doesn't help. I use a couple of different flavors and have two ecigs at any given time. I have spent nearly $1,000 in the last year and I keep thinking that things would improve when I get a new system, but it doesn't. The only system that I have had little trouble with is the original 510 or 510 mega. So can someone please help me figure this out.
Thank you for your time.

Could it be the plastic caps on the tank systems?

I can't help a lot, since I'm a pretty new vaper myself. But I can say that I've read countless threads here on ECF where leaking of both the eGo tank and the eGo-c has been a real issue. I started with the eGo Mega, and have had absolutely no problems. Although I also use a bottom feeder mod now as well, the eGo is still a really nice alternative.

You'll enjoy spending some time on this forum. There are a lot of really knowledgeable folks here, and you should get more specific answers to your post. Good luck on your continuing vaping success!

Welcome to the forum!

Try some cartomizers with your ego and 510 battery.

That plastic hit can come from a couple things- the wick may need to be adjusted (this happens with the ego-T) or it could be the way you vape. The plastic taste happens when your atty doesn't wick quickly enough. Maybe you're the type to take very deep, long vapes. They aren't for everyone.

You can use low resistance cartomizers on your ego battery and standard resistance cartomizers on your 510 battery. Both will give you a good, consistent vape.

Hi and welcome to the ECF.
All these atty/tank systems have little tiny wicks in the atty. If you vape too long/often you will dry that wick and get the harsh hit. You can avoid this by taking shorter vapes and waiting a bit between vapes.

My path was somewhat similar to yours. I was dissatisfied with 510T leaking/vapor qty/muted flavor. It got better when I used 901 carts (with soft/silicon bottom) to stop the leaking. I went to ego-T and it works better but still needed to use the silicon bottom part (or Boge VEC tanks) to stop leaking. The ego-T still has less vapor and muted flavor compared to cartos. I have ordered the ego-C transition kit based on reports it improves the flavor and vapor qty.

In the meantime I'm using cartos (boge 2.0) and tanks (stardust). Neither has leaked. The carto produces more vapor but needs to be topped off more often.

Also, thick joose (high VG%) can 'starve' the coil(s). What % are you vaping?

I agree with most of the other people. I used the ego-t for a while, but the wick made me quit. Just having to tinker with it all the time and they would only last me about 2 weeks before getting nasty. I have since switched to boge LR cartomizers. They usually last be about 4 days but a 5 pack is only about 6-8 dollars.

Welcome to the forum!
Sorry you're having grief with the Ego system, I have the Ego-T and C and haven't experienced any leaking problems yet...I use the soft silicon inserts for the tanks, also, when I first insert a tank, I take a few puffs without activating the battery to draw some fluid down to the atty. I'm a newbie also, so I hope this may help a bit.
Good luck to you!

Thanks for the help. It does make since that the atty's are drying out. I just never really paid attention to how they worked. I do like taking a big hit, kind of like a (MODERATED) hit 20 years ago. I tried a few things that was suggested and it does seem to help. I use the very high 24% vg/pg mix. I was wondering why when they are in my pocket all day they work pretty good and when I sit down in the evenings they are laying flat and don't work to well.
Please excuse my thinking, I had pneumonia 14 times and 2 years ago I almost died twice from it. I was down to 50% of my oxygen and only 32% of my lungs. Since I started vaping I have 55% of my lungs and my blood oxygen level with portable oxygen is 96%. I feel that vaping has actually increased my lung capacity, either way vaping sure didn't hurt anything. Being that low of oxygen had an affect similar to having a stroke.
Thanks to all you good people and I hope to participate more so I can learn more.

I'm in the minority here but will share that I wasn't really satisfied w/ semi disposable ecigs. Was happy when I stepped up to mods with removable batteries. It's a sound investment and a solid vape. JMHO though. Good Luck with your equipment.. hope you find what works for you!

PS: Considering many smokers pay $200/month on analogs you may have saved money despite your ecig expenditures! Your health is priceless.
