Weird. Works for me. SS isn’t terribly strongly magnetic but neodymium magnets are really powerful. Mine are the size of a stack of a few dimes but they’ll still pinch my finger.I just tried that on my SS 316 wire and the magnet doesn't come close to grabbing it.
Might work better with Kanthal though, or maybe I don't have good magnets.
