Crap. Now I may have to start riding the bike again. I used to love riding fast/hard, and when I couldn't do it anymore due to lack of O2, I quit riding altogether.

We have nice trails here in Lincoln, not as bike-friendly as some places, but lots of nice off-street paved trails.

Otherwise, my only exercise is walking all over the campus at work. We're spread out over about a block and a half, so I do a fair amount of walking. I wore a pedometer for a while, just to see, and reaching the recommended 10k steps per day was not an issue.

I agree. People seem to forget they're still inhaling poison into their blood stream.

Your heartrate is already elevated when you're exercising...adding a stimulant such as nicotine to your bloodstream is only making your heart work more.

Doing this is a fast track to problems, i wouldnt do it.

I hike and by hiking I mean 10 miles at a stretch so far.(working my way to a Appalachian trail Thru-Hike)
I had a 2012 wish to go north, but will have to wait as my moms health is failing and she need me here.
I have worked my way to 10 over the last 3 years and not once did I have the crew stop for me to have my cig.
Smoking and hiking not a good mix. (Hell smoking shouldn't even be a thought if you're an exercise enthusiast) I was an addict but my smoking was put on hold till the evening stop and camp set up. With the fresh air in my lungs there's was no way I wanted to put a cig in there. To the point I would not even want a cig till late in the evening.
It may be possible to vape wile hiking but no way can it be safe. Just how fast would one want a heart to race away from civilization and deep in the woods?
I agree exercise and vaping/ nic intake not good.......

My father was a cyclist. Rode his bicycle through Death Valley on his 70th birthday. Rode centuries. All kinds of road biking. And he did it all with his non-filtered roll your owns in his mouth. He died last September from lung cancer.

He taught me a love of cycling (though on a lesser scale). When we'd go for a ride, I could never smoke and ride at the same time....so we took a lot of breaks for me to have a puff.

Now that I have quit analogs (just yesterday, yay!) I am training to do a long ride...I am going to recreate the ride he took through Death Valley, and take his voice tapes he recorded on his last one. I am doing it in his memory.

That being said...I will be stopping and vaping along the way. Just like I do while training.
