Hey folks, I recently realized that I am fat, and out of shape!! Nope, not recently but I am still in denial........hmmmm not even in denial, just wish I wasn't!!! ANYWAY, all the years I smoked analogs, I never was motivated to exercise because, well, what was the point? I've been off them for almost 6 months now, and decided to take a little run around the block, and I was actually kinda sickened that I was so out of breath after only about 7 minutes. So, does vaping make you feel like exercising is not in vain? That it will actually help you now that your not killing yourself with analogs? I know I keep thinking how much I need to start now that my lungs are healing.

Any stimulant will.

7 minutes of runnong isn't actually that bad considering you've not done anything for years.

Ideally if youre a fatty, you should be doimg over 20 minutes of gentle cardio rather than a 7 minute run.

Keeping your heart rate up and sweating for over 20 mins will burn fat far better than short durations of max effort

Yeah it's because the body burns up calories from food you recently ate, after around 20 minutes it starts to burn the calories stored in fat cells.

When you've burned off the fat you can shift from aerobic (cardio) to anaerobic (fast running, weights etc.) but until then it's best to do the cardio, I speak from experience as a former fat kid who ended up as an infantry soldier.

I am certainly running upstairs many times a day to check on the mail...otherwise nope, though I live in opposite land and can't seem to keep weight on, finally managing to do it with a 3k-ish/day cal intake. Within the next couple weeks will be hitting the local community centre (now that I can actually exert myself without huffin n puffin) to work on making sure the weight gain is muscle.

Strictly judging on your post alone, I would say the reason you were so out of breath and "sickened"
by running for seven minutes doesn't have to do with the cigarette smoking, but rather, you are just out of shape. Running is not easy, in fact, your body will resist the fact that you are running for the first 2 miles. After about two miles it gets whipped into submission and running gets easier. I would try running/jogging on a treadmill to get your stride right, so you can at least monitor your pace. Beginner runners can get hurt, or discouraged while running outside because they think they can run a 5k in under 10 minutes... As for this tying into your vaping, running will eventually strengthen your heart and lungs, though doing both does exist maybe you seeing improvements in your shape from running will motivate you to stop the nicotine addiction... Just a thought.

not really. i only run when chased...
i will say that i do have more energy, i can taste food (and juice) better, and i don't smell like an ashtray. but i'm not going to bash analog smokers...it's a really hard addiction to overcome, and until you're ready to stop, you just can't. i've been tobacco free for over a month, and i'm staying that way...but i wouldn't be able to say that unless i found the wonderful world of vaping!
...maybe when joytech makes a portable vairable voltage exercise machine that doesn't leak, i'll get into working out. until then...

I was dieting and exercising when I quit smoking. I noticed almost immediate improvement once I switched to vaping.

I've slacked somewhat but not enough to gain back what I had lost; I simply haven't been progressing. Losing my job also deprived me of the structured schedule that made these things easy for me.

But I intend to get back into it, especially now that it's cooling down pleasantly. Thanks for the helpful tips, monkeybusiness.
