I have a question about whether you think vaping is a way to stop smoking. If you have, how long has it been since you've smoked a cigarette?

I definitely think it's a way to stop smoking, considering how much success I've found.

I was a 2 PAD smoker for about 4 years (I started when I was 15 or 16, and I have an addictive personality). I'd get bronchitis several times a year (early COPD) and would often go out late at night if I found myself without cigarettes. Cigarettes cut into my wallet, my health and my actual time (stopping to get cigarettes all the time). Last time I had a cigarette was about 8 months ago.

Started vaping about a year and 3 months ago. Before that I had tried Blu and some various cig-a-like devices, none of which worked as cessation techniques. I smoked for the ENTIRE time I had a Blu/etc. Once I got my Ego things changed a bit, but I still smoked cigarettes. After showing some friends my Ego/getting them into it, they discovered rebuildables/mechs on their own. That's what really got me off cigarettes.

Last time I smoked (and I have cheated a few times in my vape career) was during a camping trip. It was raining, and so it seemed only safe to stash the mechs and batteries in the car, and inevitably I ended up smoking a few cigarettes.

Why do you think that is?

It's definitely different for everyone.

Vaping made quitting easy (easier than gum or cig-a-likes) because I could see the vapor (which looks like smoke), so I got the visual cue that I was smoking. I also needed that "thump" in the back of my throat (TH) which I only got when I switched to rebuildables. Most importantly, the "drawing" or "sucking" action is reminiscent of a cigarette, and really does a good job tricking my brain into thinking it's smoking.

One of the many times I tried to quit cigarettes, I would "dry-puff" on an unlit one, in an attempt to get that drawing/sucking action and trick my brain. I ended up smoking more cigarettes during this time, as having an unlit one in my mouth didn't last very long, heh..

..

I would think that hits the mark.. been smoking for over 20 yrs, tried stopping for 3 days sometimes back, did not work out well.. would get all agitated and uptight. tried vaping abt a month back, started on kanger tanks, and till had a ciggy ever now and then.
moved to rba and has not had a stick of ciggy since.. for like over 2 wks now. dun missed it either

Yes indeedy, a 53 yr, 2+ PAD habit, stopped cold in its tracks when I started vaping on my MVP. No effort, no mind set to quit, no suffering, no goals set. Was gonna die with a cig in my hand and was surprised I was still amongst the living.

Curiosity and an upcoming trip to a very frigid location started me researching to "supplement" my smoking. Been over 15 mos. now, and it's been a wonderful, surprising and joyful experience. Can't imagine doing anything else now. :)
