First ecig was on 5/1/2009. Haven't had a cigarette since. I was a 2+ pad smoker for 40 years and had tried to quit more times than I can count. This not only worked, but caused no stress and has turned into a great (although expensive - my own fault) hobby. I just wish I had saved all the various ecigs I used over the years. I could have started a museum!

BTW - I have been lurking on this forum for years. I guess maybe I should start contributing.

I know what you mean, started with a rn4081, m401, M601, ego, ego t, ego c, aspire batteries, Itaste batteries, kanger batteries, various clearomizers, cartomizers, mods etc etc. ZNA and Aqua or nautilus mini main units in use now, wife keeps borrowing ( outright stealing actually) my backup gear while bugging me for my current setup -LOL

I know what you mean. I only have to worry about my son stealing mine when he visits. When he was here this weekend he thought he was going to get away with walking out with my new Sigelei box mod! I thought I would have to frisk him when he was leaving.

I've been a 2-PAD smoker, I switched to ego's on the 4th of august, and was fine till some healt troubles kicked in the family (it involved 2 heart surgeries and a mention of a possible heart transplant for my father, who has never smoked a cigarette in his life), it kicked me back on the stinkies till he got out of the hospital, now that everything is fine, I've cut back from 25 cigs a day to about 3, and looking for a flavor that can work with the morning coffe, after meals(tpa banana nutbread seems to be working for that), and it'll be gone (well, a cig after... ahhem... bedroom duties will be smoked till I can get my girl to stop smoking as well, but the 1 compared to the 40 is a pretty good number). I've found that vaping for me is not a change like a switch, rather a process, but things look good now :)

Did vaping help me quit smoking? Absolutely! I have been vaping for just short of 3 years, but just stopped smoking completely 4 months ago. I was a "duel user" up until 4 months ago because I would primarily vape only in circumstances where I couldn't, or wouldn't smoke (house, vehicle, etc).

In July I got tired of only dipping my toes in the water in regards to vaping, and jumped in all the way.

My honest answer is that I haven't quit, I could have a smoke anytime I want to, it's just that I don't want to because I'm enjoying vaping far more,
My reason behind this is simple, if I tell myself I can't have something it makes me want it more, so I consider vaping to be an option rather than my only choice (if that makes sense)
But as I sit here vaping on a rather nice mix of capachino and vanilla with a hint of toffee and a hint of almond I don't see me going back to a smoke any time soon.

My hope is, starting next year, smoking declines by 10% per year compounded. There won't be any supply bottle neck. Production of liquids and devices are not tough to ramp up, it's all simple stuff in this economy, and the more production there is the lower the prices can be. A big enough army of vapors can stare down the government control freaks.

36 year smoker and smoke free for 1 year and almost 2 months now from the moment i started vaping..

I tried everything over the years and nothing worked,so i gave up on quitting, until i got my first ego twist..

It had to be something that was better than smoking for me to put the lung hogs down..
Vaping was what was better than smoking for me..
I'm healthier because of it now.

Makes perfect sense to me, and this is precisely why the last open pack is still in a ziplock in my freezer -- just the fact of their presence means that vaping is my free choice, of my own volition -- and for me, that's the most important thing, to know the choice is MINE, not dictated externally even by having no cigarettes handy. They're there, if I really want one; I really don't. :D
