Nope, my lung function seems better, I don't cough up mucus, and since I found my preferred setup I barely even have a case of shinyitis. That's after 2.3 years of vaping. The only thing that I notice is slightly elevated blood pressure for about 30 minutes after vaping, but after that it returns to normal. I'm not sure if I had that while smoking, I didn't check my BP as often then.

No, I didn''t--knock on wood. I feel better overall and haven't had a respiratory tract infection of any kind--not even a cold-- in 4 years--or longer. Can't even remember.

Having said that, most of us here, long-time vapers, are former smokers. So even if someone with a 30-year history of smoking 2 PAD and two years of vaping developed a COPD or emphysema or lung cancer, could we really attribute it to vaping? I don't think so. And there aren't enough long-time vapers who never smoked to do a study.

I think the world is still waiting for even one vaper to develop health issues from vaping ... however, we are only talking about several million vapers.

maybe when the numbers grow to 100s of millions of vapers ... we might find someone then

The only effects I've had from vaping have been all good ones. My blood pressure is down, my heart rate is down, my oxygen saturation is up to 98% as opposed to 92% when I was smoking. I can breathe easily and don't cough up a lung every morning. If I didn't have a really bad back, I'd be good to go.

But hear this, my third cousin was about 60 years old when he quit smoking (about 1995-1996). In the next 5 or more years, he then developed emphysema, which got worse over time. Then in 2007-ish, he got a cancer on his lower gum, had radiation which took a huge toll on him, and he passed away in 2009. Never vaped.

My mother stopped smoking when she was 61. She died with a tumor in her lung in 1999 at age 81. Technically, it was Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, but it presented as a lung cancer. She didn't vape, either.

So I'm saying...as vapers, in our years to come if we develop some illness or disease, you KNOW they're going to blame it on vaping, when there is no actual guarantee that quitting smoking will magically eliminate the possibility of dying from smoke-related causes. Smoking seems to lay a foundation for troubles down the road for many people.

I'll choose vaping, thanks!

Ecigs haven't been out that long, but I was wondering for those who have vaped a long time, do you have any issues such as coughing, Emphysema etc?

Well I do have more moisture in my sinuses. However I breath better. I can hike faster ( closer to before I started smoking). I am steadier on the firing range when shooting. As for the sinuses thing I think if I backed down my use I might not have the issues. Oh I have noticed that I drink a little more water maybe a glass or two more a day than before I started vaping. I started using these almost 5 years ago. It took me a couple of years to leave the tobacco behind completely. However I have not looked back.

I've been vaping for a bit over three years after around 37 years of smoking. So far all the changes have been positive for me. My smoker's cough went away and the start of COPD symptoms my doctor was warning me about also went away. I don't think there are no risks with vaping, but so far it's been a great way to quit smoking, I've been able to move to zero-nicotine juice and I'm not addicted anymore.
